An Open Letter To My Sorority Sisters
Alyssa Cook

Dear sisters,

I've written before about my love for my sorority and how it captured my heart. But this one's for my sisters.

Whether we are close or have never really talked, this letter goes out to each and every one of you. I can't express my words for how thankful I am to be part of such a close, loving sisterhood.

When joining sorority life, I planned on gaining a few more close friends and maybe a new friend group, but little did I know that I would be able to truly say I gained around 150 sisters. Despite whether or not we hangout or what not, I feel comfortable around them and know I'm at home.

There are so many reasons I can think to be thankful for my sisters and different memories I could reflect on. Although I could name so much more, here are some of those things my sorority sisters do that make me so thankful.

1. I am thankful that I can always can find someone to eat with.

2. I am thankful because I know there will be at least someone who will stay in with me on a Friday night.

3. I am thankful to have sisters who will be there for me without judgement.

4. I am thankful for my sisters' complete honesty, even when its not what I want to hear.

5. I am thankful for my sisters for the support my sisters give me while going through boy problems.

6. I am thankful I know I have at least one thing in common (our sorority) with the about 150 sisters I have.

7. I am thankful that I have met some of my future bridesmaids.

8. I am thankful for always having someone to take endless amount of pictures with.

9. I am thankful I can always count on them for "likes" on social media.

10. I am thankful I feel comfortable around them and know I can be myself.

11. I am thankful for the endless laughs and unforgettable memories.

12. I am thankful I can always count on someone to keep me company during those good times and bad times.

13. I am thankful for gaining sisters for life.

Overall, I can't thank my sisters enough for making me, me. I never knew what it was like to feel fulfilled and fully content with my life up until I joined a sorority. Of course I have my bad days and days where I question everything, but that's when they're there for you the most.

Words cannot express my appreciation for each of my sisters and I hope every single one of them reads this.

So if you're questioning whether or not to go greek, just do it. Be open to the possibilities because I never imagined feeling so loved and thankful.

I love you all.

XOXO,

Alyssa Ellyn

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
