22 Tips For My Sorority Sisters, From A Graduating Senior

Hi perfect humans,

I love every single one of you with all of my heart. Except for my pledge class I have been a part of each and every one of your recruitment processes. I know I may not be around as much as I used to be. I wish I could be around more. It might not seem like it but I would pay a million bucks to be a freshman again. You will find that as you get older sometimes it is hard to always put your sorority first. Scary thoughts start rolling in around the middle of fall semester as a senior, some of these consist of,

+ The need to graduate on time.

+ Making sure you can graduate.

+ Applying for grad school and or a big girl job.

+ Money. You realize you need to save for possibly a car, new apartment, cell phone payment, and *your very own dog*.

+ Work experience. Hopefully, you're all doing internships but your senior year is the last year to cram that in.

+ Construct and reconstruct your resume and then do it all again.

All of this stuff takes a lot of time. And time is something you will realize is not on your side. You blink and next thing you know you're graduating college.

While I can't be around all the time, I can give you some tips. And I hope that you all know I love you with my whole heart and while I'm not around I still keep up with you and only wish you the absolute best.

1. Go to chapter because when you graduate you won't be spending your Sunday night with your sisters.

2. Love and support one another, this goes without saying because you all have shown me such an amazing sisterhood.

3. Boys are stupid. They will come and go and your sisters will always be there to love you.

4. Your sisters are always down to get queso and margs, just ask.

5. Use each other for help! Especially when it comes to a job, awesome networking, or school work!

6. Always ask each other how they are doing. Sometimes you just need someone to ask how your day was.

7. Stay connected with alumni! They have super cool adult lives now and it's always fun to watch them succeed in life. We have been set up to be leaders and to excel in anything the world has to give us when we have our sisters by our side.

8. Go all out for themed parties!

9. Go on spring break together, you will have a blast.

10. Love your big, because she loves you more than you know.

11. STUDY. We are here for school so kick schools butt!

12. Live in the house when you get the chance too. Never will you have that many closets to look at.

13. Love your seniors. You can't possibly know how much each of you means to us. Every single girl has had an impact on my life no matter how big or how small.

14. When life seems hard just know that it will always get better.

15. Everything will be ok as long as you have some ice cream

16. Take leadership positions on campus. Even if it’s a little one, do it!

17. Stay connected with friends outside of Greek life

18. Be friends with your professors. They are actually really cool people.

19. Never take this sisterhood for granted. You won't realize how amazing it is until it's gone.

20. This sorority is your family.

21. Remember it's not 4 years, it's for life.

22. You are never alone.

I feel so sappy writing this and I am sure I will think of 1000 more things I could tell you to do before you graduate. But college is your own journey for you to figure it all out. I found my way and I did it with the help of some incredible sisters along the way. I can't believe I won't have another year full of laughs, philanthropies, and ritual. These 4 years with you have been unforgettable. And I am forever grateful to have you in my life.

"Sorority sisters are the people you can share your secrets with, cry with, laugh with, and just be yourself with. They don't judge you or make you change. They accept you exactly as you are. They look at you and they see a great person, one they love spending time with. You all share something in common and are tied together by memories, tears, laughs & smiles. You're tied together by love for the other. Sisterhood is the greatest thing in the world. I find my time with my sisters the best times of my life. My sisters are my heart, my soul, my fun, my laughter, my tears, my love and my life" ~ Unknown

    Love,

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
