An Open Letter To My Sisters Who Haven’t Experienced College Yet

I absolutely love college. I love the late nights spent writing research papers, and the nights that turn into mornings where you piece together what happened after the pre-game. I love the days spent at the library that transition into the night trying to catch up on months’ worth of reading for that big exam the next day. I will forever cherish the endless afternoons spent eating chicken tenders and strawberry lemonade with my friends, and getting chicken tenderheart. I will never forget Theater class; the class that my friends and I thought was going to be so easy, but we got a D plus in. I love walking into a class bright and early for an 8 am looking like I got hit by a train on the way there. I love college for the good, the bad and the ugly and I wouldn’t trade my experiences for the world, and you won’t either.

You will love college because you will experience all these things too. You will learn lessons in one week that you wouldn’t get from one month of your first year of high school. You will fall in love with the atmosphere, and although it is an academic kick in the ass, nothing worth doing in life comes easy. I can promise you that your hard work will pay off, and that you will find success in the classroom, and outside of it. You will learn to appreciate all that the college experience has to offer from the classes that make you cry and question why you even chose to go to school, to the food that will make you question if it is even edible, to the nights that end up becoming puzzle pieces in the morning. I can promise you, once it is over you will most definitely want to go back. It is what you make of it, and I hope that you make it worth while.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
