An Open Letter To My Roommate

She should be getting paid for having to live with me

An Open Letter To My Roommate

Dear Roomie,

Words cannot describe the respect I have for you, because you chose to live with someone as crazy as me. Thank you for always loving me, and helping me get through the day, even when it means listening to me rant about the lady who cut me off in the Whole Foods line. Thank you for truly understanding what it means to have a mental break down and for not questioning my need to lie on the floor for ten minutes.

Thank you for throwing stuffed animals at my face when you can't deal with me anymore instead of actually putting me in my place. Thank you for coping with my messy habits, and never caring when my pile of clothes on the floor is literally as tall as you are, or having to jump over 4 pairs of my shoes to get into your bed. Thank you for understanding my extreme buyer's remorse and living with the millions of boxes of things I need to return but just never get around to doing.

Thank you for never telling me to be quiet when you have to listen to me laugh from the (most likely lame) Netflix show I'm watching. Thank you for understanding that I am the worst decorator, and for allowing me to hang up the most random photos without ever making me take them down. Thank you for always setting your alarm, because we both know I would never get up for work, but also thank you for (accidentally) skipping your 8am with me when we both roll over and fall back asleep.

Thank you for doing my dishes when I leave them in the sink for way longer than socially acceptable, and for dealing with my picky eating habits but never making fun of me. Thank you for always offering me a snack because you know I can't refuse, and most importantly thank you for never turning down my requests to binge-eat late at night. Thank you for having spontaneous dance parties with me to take a break from studying, and from letting me play you the same song over and over without making me turn it off.

Thank you for never making your bed, because then it doesn't make my pile of jumbled sheets look as bad. Thank you for hanging our mirror at the perfect angle so that every time we leave the room we are always looking fabulous.

Thank you for telling me your honest opinions when I ask you what to wear, probably because you don't want me looking like a loser and telling people I'm your roommate (but that's besides the point). Thank you for basically living in a closet with me but managing to stay sane because the day you become as crazy as me, will most definitely be our downfall.

I can't thank you enough for all the wonderful memories we've already made together, and am beyond excited for the all the late night laughing sessions, lunch time gossip convos, dressing-up fiascos, wine nights, and 3 hour study breaks that are to come. I'm so lucky to have a roommate like you, and there's no one else I'd rather sleep next to in a 7 x 11 foot room. Thanks for being the best roommate a girl could ask for, because without you, who would keep me sane?

Love,

Your Low-Key/High-Key Crazy Roommate

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
