Dear 25-Year-Old Self,
I hope, more than anything, that you are healthier than ever. I mean that both mentally and physically. I pray that your body can take on CrossFit as easily as it can digest a brownie. I pray that your mind is decisive, mature and healthy. I know it's easy to slip up sometimes, but I also know that you will not allow a slip turn into your downfall. It's been four years now, and I would like to remind you of your values.
Firstly, I would like to apologize. I am sorry that some aspects of your life may have not gone by the way you would've wanted them to in the past four years. The frustration can be debilitating, and I know how hard-headed you are. You refuse to give into the obstacles that come your way. Hence, when matters are out of your hand, just understand that it's OK. It's alright because soon enough, another opportunity will arise, and that will be your time to shine. Don't let the darkness of today take away from the light of tomorrow. Remember the times this has come up and somehow, someway, somewhat turned out to be for the best.
Secondly, I would like to congratulate you. Every single day can be a battle sometimes. You are badass for getting out of bed today. You are fierce for taking on your day despite the grief. You have made it to 25 years old, and although that may not seem like an accomplishment, it is. You're still kicking. You're still working hard. Remember that it all does pay off. I know sometimes it doesn't feel like it. You may feel like you're stuck in a rut, but "this, too, shall pass." Never forget that. You know what you are capable of—keep at it.
Thirdly and finally, I would like to thank you. Thank you for never giving up on yourself when it felt like the entire world was collapsing. Thank you for always trying to see the silver lining in everything. Thank you for not giving up on people, because that is one of life's greatest challenges. I know that you've been broken, stepped on, mistreated and hurt, but thank you for giving people a chance. It is one of the most overbearing dilemmas: to trust or not to trust. You get to choose. But always remember to choose wisely.
I know that everything may not be where you would like it to be at this point in your life, but you will get there. Patience is a virtue, you know that. Don't give up on your vision. Take your aspirations one step at a time. Don't forget to travel, eat, live and love. Don't ever lose sight of who you are. I'm proud of you. Keep on going and keep on growing.
