“They may not have my eyes, they may not have my smile, but they have all my heart.”
To My Ex’s Parents,
Breakups are difficult, but what was even more difficult was “breaking up” with your family. I am thankful for you both in many ways.
Thank you for being so welcoming.
I still remember the first day I met you two. I was anxious. I didn’t know what to expect or how you two would feel about meeting me. All my worries went away as soon as I was welcomed with open arms. Since the start, you both loved me unconditionally. You treated me as your own. I will never forget our late night Redbox movie nights, endless dinners, or the sweet texts when you hadn’t heard from me in a day or two.
Thank you for being you.
You two are the most caring, compassionate individuals I have met. You’re both the picture perfect version of “good-hearted people.” I hope I gave you a fraction of the happiness you blessed me with. You both are hardworking people who are never afraid to go the extra mile. There needs to be more people like that in this world.
Thank you for loving me.
Having you two to love, cherish, and guide me helped me grow into the woman I am today. You helped teach me the importance of being myself. You loved me as if I was your own. Because of you two, I know exactly how to treat my future son’s girlfriends. Even through the breakup, your love persevered.
Thank you for letting me love your son.
Thank you for letting me take up a portion of his life. It couldn’t have been easy sharing a part of your son’s life. Dating your son taught me how to love and how to be loved. You’ve allowed us to create so many memories that I would never take back. I’ve become a better person through this whole experience.
Thank you for everything.
I will be forever grateful to have met you and your family. I am more appreciative than words can express. I can’t thank you enough.
Love Always
