Dad,
How do I even begin to thank the person that gave me everything? You came into my life when I was really little and took me in as your own. You have stood by my side through every journey in my life and I never really said thank you.
First, thank you for letting me be a part of your family. You gave me so many family members that love and care about me. You even gave me my best friend and the honor of being a big sister to the best little sister a girl could ever dream of.
Second, thank you for teaching me important life lessons. Thank you for teaching me how to ride a bike and how to drive a car. For showing me where to go when I get a flat tire and how to register a car of my own. Thank you for going on runs with me in middle school because I thought it was a good idea to join track when I was out of shape. Thank you for being my support system when bad relationships ended and not saying I told you so too many times even when you called it from the beginning. Thank you for believing in me when few people did.
Third, thank you for supporting me. You witnessed dance recitals, soccer games, track meets, basketball games, and volleyball matches. You sat through football games, both home and away, to watch me cheer. You supported me switching to a middle school across town just so I could receive a better education. At my graduation, you even wore purple simply because you knew it was my favorite. You helped me move to college, home, and back again and supported me when I wanted to change my major. You drove me to so many different doctors appointments when I didn't have a working car and was my rock when I was scared and didn't know what was wrong with me.
Lastly, thank you in advance for all of our future journeys. Thank you for being at my future college graduation. Thank you for being the person to walk me down the aisle when it's time. Thank you for assisting me with my future first apartment and owning my first house. Thank you for being there for the birth of my future children and being the best grandparent a kid can have.
When you started dating my mom, I'm sure none of this is what you had planned for your own life. Fortunately for me, you sacrificed everything for a kid that wasn't yours and stayed even though you didn't have to. You are the best dad a girl could ever dream of and I am so happy you became mine.
Love Always,
Your Daughter
