An Open Letter To My Little Sister

Just a small tribute to show you how much I love you!

An Open Letter To My Little Sister

To my not-so-little sister,

You are going to accomplish incredible things, and I thank God every single day that I get to be apart of that journey. You are a beautiful human being and I have loved watching you grow. You make me so proud to call you my baby sister, my munchkin (so much so that I am crying as I write this). My love for you is like no other. I love you endlessly.

When it seems like the world is against you and no one is on your side you can always count on me. I'm your person to sing ridiculously in the car with, your shoulder to cry on and your forever backbone. By the way, I hope you know I'm not kidding that I will beat up the first boy who makes you cry. I'm always here and I hope you never ever forget that.

I will always be down to go get Cheerwine slushies or a burrito. I will always be willing to stay up late in your room and have sister talks. And laugh uncontrollably when Mom or Dad try and butt in. I will always be willing to sit out in the rain or the freezing cold weather to watch you play softball. And yes, I am obviously always willing to let you know what you could do better in basketball.

I pray for you each and every day. I pray that you will continue to grow into a strong, independent young woman. I pray that all of your dreams will come true. I pray that God will help me to be the best role model I can for you.

Please take my advice. I only speak on things I have experienced myself.

Cherish every moment of the rest of your high school career. And once you're in college cherish those times too. It truly will fly by. Go to cookouts, be crazy in the student section, and obviously be careful!

Don't cry too much over the boy. And if he doesn't make you happy and treat you right, leave.

Don't ever let a crappy guy keep you down and make you cry. Pick yourself back up and be yourself. And I'll be damned if I ever let you go through what I did. If he is too immature and insecure, then leave him or I'll dump him for you! Don't ever let them ruin anything.

Put your friends first.

Don't miss a girls night or hanging out with your friends for a boy. Friends are forever and they are will have your back when that boy breaks your heart. Don't miss those moments or memories with them. It will be something you regret.

Be a leader, not a follower.

Be the person that others look up to. Don't be afraid to stand up and stand out. The people that truly are your friends and teammates will not make fun of you or point fingers, they will follow and support you.

Stay out of trouble.

Have fun please, but do it cautiously. Think twice before you do things, post things, and say things. These things follow you and stick with you. You can't take things back, just always remember that.

I love you always and forever. No matter how tall or old you get you'll always be my baby sister. I am so incredibly proud of you, each and every day!

Love always,

Your big sis

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
