Why I would never support you

An Open Letter To Donald Trump

Dear Mr. Trump,

I can say this from the bottom of my heart, and I can speak for many young Americans just like myself: you are a complete embarrassment to America and what our country stands for. Your actions are repulsive, your words are demeaning, and your sheer lack of care for these two points is exactly the reason why you are WRONG for America. You live by the rules of your agenda simply trying to vie on an edge for your own personal gain, not for the betterment of our great country. During the Republican Candidate debate, you flat out said that you would run as an Independent if you did not receive the Republican bid. News flash: you (won't) be receiving that bid because the American people have brains in their heads.

Let's start here and talk for a minute or two about the way you treat women. Being the raging women's rights activist that I am, I cannot stand the idea of a man in office with such little respect for half of the American population. You, Sir, are only prolonging the war on women and making it harder for them to be seen in a serious eye in the American public. As Megyn Kelly pointed out just a few nights ago to you,

"Mr. Trump, one of the things people love about you is you speak your mind and you don't use a politician's filter. However, that is not without its downsides, in particular, when it comes to women. You've called women you don't like fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals."

Well, Mr. Trump, Rosie O'Donnell is not the only person you have said these comments to, even though she is a phenomenal comedian, author, and women's rights activist. You called a lawyer a pig because she was disagreeing with an outlandish statement you made. You called an interviewer a dog and actually uttered the words on your show once that a woman would "look pretty on her knees." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! This is exactly why women are seen so low in the public eye and why they have the constant battle of making any real headway in our society. Men in power who just like you, Mr. Trump, degrade, denounce, and OBJECTIFY them to a point where the rest of our society just falls into the same category.

Do we even need to talk about the way you treated Megyn, cutting her off when you didn't like what she was saying? Laughing in her face? Trying to make the words you uttered to women okay? Saying she had blood coming out of her? Well, here, I'll clear that part up for you, it's called a period, women get it monthly, and there is NOTHING we can do about that. It doesn't make us hormonal or any less capable of the duties than a man is.

Lastly on this topic, let's address your lawyer's comments about marital rape when he said, "If you're married it cannot be considered rape." Once again I question your UPenn education if you do not know rape is 1. A VERY serious matter and 2. Rape can be done to any unwilling participant. So just because a male and a female are married does not mean he has the rights to her body whenever he pleases. If she says NO and he proceeds, it's demeaned rape.

Finally, Mr. Trump, I, a 19-year-old girl with big eyes who would LOVE to go into politics one day, want to tell you why I would never support you. Simply, your actions, thought processes, blatant disrespect for anyone who is not on the same "economic" level as you, ruins it for me. You're rude and demeaning and make this field I want to love so much seem as if it's a joke. I want to go into a world of politics with people like Hillary Clinton, who respects everyone. Or Ben Carson, who has an opinion and speaks it in the "politically correct" manner as you have so respectfully (HAHAHAH) once again demeaned. I want a political realm of John Kennedys, Bill Clintons, Barack Obamas, even George Bushes who may not have been the smartest, but actually cared for the American people.

Mr. Trump, you disappoint me, you disappoint millions of American women out there, and you disappoint everything our country stands for. I can only hope that you see this and try to change.

Sincerely,

Someone Who Is Deeply Hurt And Offended By Your Actions And Comments As A Whole

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
