You were the first people I met here at this “scary big school.” The first faces I saw after I put my whole life in a box and moved into a room the size of my childhood closet. You were the people to set the tone as to how these next four years might turn out and well I can honestly say those friendships made are now the most unbreakable ones I have found here. Some of us have transferred, some have moved buildings and for some we just see each other in passing, but we all have the fondest memories that will forever hold a special place in my heart.
I have six words for you guys: Thank you and I love you.
Thank you for making me laugh during some of the most stressful days I have ever encountered. You showed me that even though I may have failed my first test or had too much on my plate, there was always a light at the end of the tunnel or maybe just a funny joke to come home to. For pulling all-nighter after all-nighter with me in the lounge so I wouldn’t have to sit there alone and type a paper or study for a class you knew nothing about because you still wanted to try and help. Better yet, instead of studying, you guys were being real friends and seeing who can walk on their hands the longest down the hall because let’s be honest -- that’s so much more productive! For wiping the tears away from my face day and night when I experienced my very first heartbreak and listening to me rant for hours about not getting a text back and then hearing the rant of what he eventually did text back. For being the only people who understood each other’s eating, sleeping and showering schedules at all times and not be considered a stalker. Thank you for carrying me home on my worst nights and being right by my side for my best. For being the only people willing to walk through a snowstorm at 3 a.m. with me to go get food because floormates don’t let floormates starve. For always making sure I was awake and not skipping class by banging on my door until you got an answer.
I love you guys with all my heart and freshman year will always be a year everyone remembers for the rest of their lives. I’m happy I got to experience it with you all. It’s not every day you get thrown into rooms next door to people who have had opposite lives and backgrounds and are told to make it work, but boy did we do a great job. Even though you may not be a door or four down from me anymore, I know you’ll always be a text, or four, away.
