Oh sister dear, I could write a novel about you. You've always been there for me, and not because you're blood. You've been there through all the good and bad times in my life. You keep me safe, I keep you wild. I have to keep you on your toes, always expect the unexpected.
I'm the little brat, I mean little sister. I used to always brag that Mom loved me more because I was her "little princess." Obviously, that's not the case. We both know mom loves us equally and unconditionally. We're seven years apart, so that's kind of a big age difference between siblings. I remember one day in middle school, you came to pick me up from school for some reason and one of my friends asked me if you were my mom because you looked old. I almost got in a fight that day because it made me mad because I thought they were being mean to you. Nobody can make fun of you except me, that's my job. That means you were graduating high school the same year I was graduating fifth grade. Let's not forget that mom cried at my "graduation" and not yours, yeah I don't understand either. We argue like cats and dogs 99 percent of the time, but that's what sisters are supposed to do.
You've always been one of my biggest supporters in my life. You've taught me so many things that I needed to know and dozens of life lessons. There are several things so why not start a small list? You taught me manners, how to ride a bike, and how to ride a horse to name a couple of them. You were the best teacher I ever had, that’s for sure. I remember when I was little, my favorite game was school and I would always ask mom to play with me, but she was usually making dinner because I always asked at that time, what did you do? You always volunteered to play with me to not only keep me out of the kitchen while mom was cooking, but you wanted to keep me occupied because you’re an awesome student. We would go to my room and you would sit at my desk and be the teacher and I would sit on the floor and be the student. You would use my mini chalkboard to write notes and would write me little math and vocabulary quizzes to help me learn. You were always out to help me improve in school. Whenever I would come home and need help with homework, I’d go straight to you because mom never understood what I was doing.
Dance was a big part of our lives growing up, and still to this day. I danced since I was two years old and you started when you were seven. That’s sixteen and eighteen years of our lives spent in the studio. We love it, there’s no doubt about it. We’ve trained in tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, Bollywood, musical theater, pointe, ballet, lyrical hip hop, baton, and more. We’ve competed in the elite category for years. As soon as you were old enough to drive, you became my ride every day that I was there, so thanks for that by the way. You were my assistant instructor for several years, helping me warm up and improve my technique to make me a better dancer. You stuck by my side and balanced me out in every dance we were in together, because you know, we are both freakishly tall. Oh, and let’s not forget every time Becky would say to grab a partner around your size or find your balance, we would always roll our eyes and pair up.
School has always been really important to me. You always joke that I'm so much smarter than you because I graduated higher ranked in my class and had a higher grade point average. I completely disagree with that statement. I learn from you, I look up to you. You've always been a role model to me. You helped me study and you always wished me luck before I had a test or quiz. You pushed me to be the best I could be in my academics. School is hard, we both know this. It's stressful and very time-consuming. It's draining and even when I was at an all-time low, you were there. When I would come home with a bad grade and be sad, you would pick my head up and help me to improve so I wouldn't make the same mistake twice and be successful. Thanks for being my motivator. I worked hard in school so I could get into college, which I just started my freshman year. I also worked hard so I could say I'm smarter than my older sister, let's be honest. I graduated in the top 20% of my class and was ranked 103 out of approximately 446 people in my class. Thanks for coming to graduation and being a part of my cheerleading section as I walked across the stage. I love my fans. Let's look at a couple throwback pictures from senior homecoming, senior prom, and graduation. Let's reminisce a little, shall we?
Let's bring this love story to a close. You're the best older sister there is and I couldn't imagine a life without you. I love you so much no matter how many times I throw a bratty tantrum and say I don't. I'm a little over-dramatic at times as we both know. I'll always be there for you and I know you would do the same. You and I are sisters, always remember that if you fall I will pick you up, as soon as I finish laughing.
