An Open Letter From A Concerned American To Donald Trump

Mr. Trump, you will not make America great again, but quite the opposite.

Dear Mr. Trump,

It's no secret you've garnered a majority of the media's attention lately, and secured yourself a solid seat in the "craziest members of history corner," as a result. It almost doesn't surprise me anymore to see someone so ridiculous, so hateful, so unbelievable in the news anymore. But whenever I saw the "nut-jobs" on the 5 o'clock news, I felt relatively safe knowing they weren't pandering for the presidency. I knew that these mentally unstable people didn't have a snow ball's chance in hell at becoming the role model, the captain, the president of our great country.

But now, I'm worried.

I am not worried because he "can't be bought," and "can keep himself afloat without big business funding." I am not worried because I am a die hard liberal or a tried and true conservative and my political candidate of choice is losing. I am worried because of the eerie parallels.

Sure, political propaganda floats around everywhere during a big election, and sure, I've seen some outlandish claims made against you that just aren't true (although I can't quite recall any of those off the bat.) However, an alarming amount of the propaganda floating around right now is backed by legitimate historical evidence. They always say history repeats itself, and as an avid student of history, I couldn't agree more. Now, what does this historical evidence claim, and compare you to?

Well, for starters, Benito Mussolini, the leader of the fascist party that controlled Italy.

Popular news media site AJ+ posted this video here comparing you to fascist leaders in the world's recent history. Again, backed by historical evidence.

This video also compares you to someone else we'd rather not discuss, Adolf Hitler.

Historically speaking, rulers like Mussolini and Hitler came into power when their countries faced economic hardships coming off of major wars and they promised their citizens to make their countries great again. It's no secret that the United States has faced financial turmoil recently, and you, Mr. Trump, believe you can help us out. While I can understand a few of your policies, like lifting sanctions on businesses to promote hiring and growth, this country is not solely a business and shall not be run as such. Even businesses on the small scale still contain actual living human beings, and whenever those are involved the issues become social as well as economic. Just because you're a "business man" does not mean you are cut out to run a very large, well populated "business," full of unique individuals each facing different problems.

I'd like to believe I speak for the majority here when I say I am APPALLED that someone like you, who can be compared to Hitler and Mussolini can even run for the office of president (but this is the United States where freedom is key). Regardless, Mr. Trump, you will NOT make America great again, but in fact quite the opposite. We've progressed so far as a country since times like the 1950s when women and racial minorities barely had any rights, and by your words and actions you intend on leading us back 100+ years into the past. This country is ablaze with racial tension, and you sir, are pouring water on the grease fire. We do not need "special ID badges" for Muslims, and we don't need to build a wall. So quit with the crap, because you're not "just saying what everyone is thinking," because myself, and many others with MORALS are certainly not thinking the hatred you're spewing.

So from myself, and the other sane persons within the United States of America, sit down, Mr. Trump, because this isn't Nazi Germany or fascist Italy. We are informed, we are aware, and we will not be blindly led into a civil war created by our leader. This is 2016, and we will not let hate win anymore.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
