Dear Self,

I'm writing this to remind you that even when you feel worthless remember how hard you have worked. You have worked your butt off to get where you are today even if you feel like you have accomplished nothing. Think of the hours you have spent practicing, studying, working, just to show that you are more than just the girl in the back of the room no one notices. Even if you feel invisible, remember that you are not. You are important to someone even if it seems you are alone.

The days you feel worthless, take time realize how many good days you've had. You may not feel as musically talented as some of your peers and your professors just glance past you because you don't stand out. You're wrong. You work hard, you show leadership and you always stay positive even when the world is against you. Use the negatives that have been thrown at you and make them positives. Use them to motivate you and create a better person that you know you can be.

There will be times that you will feel like you'll be alone forever as if you'll never be able to open up and show your true feelings. As those around you seem to find "the one", don't worry about and continue marching to the beat of your own drum. Go live your life regardless if there is someone by your side or not. Go see the world, create your own story. No one is stopping you but yourself. You don't have to have someone by your side because that's not who you are. You are strong and independent. Some day someone may come into your life and join you in your adventures but if not continue on because nothing can stop you.

And on the days that are hard to get out of bed think about the lives you have touched. You are loved and never forget that fact. You may never kill the anxiety that constantly follows you but you can control it. You are your own worst enemy. Stop comparing yourself to everyone else. So you aren't as pretty as that girl you walked passed, maybe your not as smart as the boy in class, or you'll never be as talented as your peers. This causes you to feel self-conscious and worthless but all I can tell you is to stop it. Stop bringing yourself down and start looking at the positives in your life. You are important.

I write this letter to you to remind you that you are important. You are going to be great at whatever you choose to do no matter what your anxiety tells you. On the days you feel like giving up remember those you could help. This is why you have to help those around you and encourage them to be their best. Help those that are going through their own battles. Just remember to keep your head up and smile because life is beautiful.

Sincerely,

Yourself

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
