To my amazing mother...

There are a lot of things that I have in my life that I am thankful for but you are definitely what I am most thankful for. You have kept a roof over my head, clothes on my back, and food in my belly. I am thankful that you have always made sure I had everything I have ever needed in life and so much more.

Over the past couple of years we have went from just being mother and daughter to us being best friends. I am beyond proud to say that you are my best friend, you are also the most selfless person I have ever met. Throughout my entire life I have never heard you complain about hardly anything, no matter how stressed out you were or how bad your back hurt even after three back surgeries. You have always put your family and friends first no matter what, that is one of my favorite qualities about you. You have sacrificed so many things for our family without even questioning what you can get out of it. For you it is always about making sure your family has the best life possible.

I know that you will always be here for me no matter what, you are always the first person I want to call when I have a problem because you almost always have a smart solutions. Not only are you the most selfless person I know, you are also one of the smartest people that I know. I don't know what I would do without you in my life. You are also the first person I call when I have exciting news, I know that you will always be happy for me. Even when I have bad news, I know that you will always have the right thing to say to cheer me up and help me in anyway she can to make it better.

Now that I am older, I have definitely become more appreciative of everything you have ever done for me. I am appreciative of all the rides you have given me whether it was to a friends house, sports games and practices, doctors visits, band practices and events, and so, so many other events! I have also come to appreciate all of those times that I was punished, especially for all of the big punishments. I will never forget my biggest punishments because I was able to learn from them the most. You didn't just punish me and say I was wrong, you taught me why I was wrong and how things should be handled.

In all honesty, you are my number one role model. You are kind, loving, compassionate, selfless, smart, beautiful, and so much more. You are everything that I ever hope to be when I grow older. I hope to be as great of a mom as you are one day. Thank you for everything that you have ever done for me and our family. I am beyond grateful to have you as my mother and as my best friend.

Thanks for being the cool mom.

I love you.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
