After 14 seasons in the NBA Amar'e Stoudemire has retired as a New York Knick. The 33-year-old played for four different teams over the course of his career the Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, and Miami Heat. Stoudemire played the greatest basketball of his career in the Valley of the sun where he thrived in their seven seconds or less offense averaging 21.4 points and 8.9 rebounds per game in eight seasons.

The Phoenix Suns released statement saying, "Amar'e's eight seasons with our franchise provided some of the most exciting Suns basketball this city has ever seen. Off the court, Amar'e represented himself with integrity and class every step of the way, leaving an indelible impression on countless kids in our community. We're proud to have called Amar'e one of our own and wish him nothing but the best in his retirement. Congrats, STAT!"

At 6'10" and 245 lbs. Amar'e burst onto the NBA scene with size and athleticism unlike anyone before him. "STAT" was the nickname he was given which described him perfectly it stood for Standing Tall and Talented.

If you've forgotten about how good he was think about the player that you think Blake Griffin could be that was Amar'e before the injuries. Stoudemire posterized opposing defenders on a nightly basis picking and rolling with his partner in crime Steve Nash. If he's knees wouldn't have broken down on him who knows what Stoudemire would've have become. NBA historians should go ahead and add Stoudemire to the long list of what ifs that include the likes of Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway and Brandon Roy Despite injuries Amar'e managed to rack up a long list of individual accomplishments including Rookie of the Year, six time an All-Star, and five time All-NBA team including First team in 2007.

In his prime Stoudemire could use his Go Go Gadget arms and pogo stick like jumping ability to dunk on you from outside the paint. Even though he lost that athleticism it didn't stop him from being a dominant force on the court. He polished his game by improving his jump shot every year. Some may disagree but after the career he had Stoudemire deserves to one day be elected into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
