I Am Tired Of Memes!

The constant use of memes really needs to stop, and here is the reason why.

As I scroll through Facebook and Twitter and Tumblr and Pinterest and all of the social media sites that I am - for some reason - attached to, I have seen an inundation of memes. I see funny memes, relevant memes, memes that try to be relatable to teenagers and memes that try (and often fail) to tell jokes. I see memes about religion, memes about politics, memes about animals, and even memes about memes. And to be perfectly honest, I am getting sick and tired of seeing all of these memes.

I see them everywhere. And not only this, but I see the same memes over and over and over again. The culture developing through these memes is one that lacks originality. Now, I know that there really isn't any original thought out there, because there is nothing new under the sun, according to the book of Ecclesiastes. But that doesn't mean that we have to broadcast our lack of originality to the whole world! I have shared memes just like the rest of humanity. I have fallen prey to this mindless unoriginal action.

This overuse of memes has to stop. I am sorry, but that's just the truth of the matter. The occasional meme is alright, but using the same memes over and over again just shows that we all lack maturity and originality. It doesn't look good anywhere, and being some "master creator of memes" really doesn't look good on a resume. I will admit that I enjoy the occasional meme, the occasional joke, the occasional sentimental meme. I laugh. But more often than not, I simply groan at the political meme that I just saw.

Now perhaps that is simply because I am tired of hearing about what is going on in society. Perhaps I am getting bored with the so-called news that people put on the Internet. Perhaps I am tired of seeing just how far downhill society has rolled itself. Or perhaps I am right in just how annoying this growth in memes is. It does nothing really good for society. It doesn't enhance culture. If anything, it has decreased our ability to think and be the best humans that we can be. Memes appear to be not only decreasing originality, but also decreasing our intelligence. But maybe that is just us putting too much trust in Wikipedia.

To finish off, I will quote one of the most famous of all of the memes. People keep using memes for every single part of life that there is to meme about...but that's none of my business.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
