Not everyone is fortunate enough to meet their soulmate, or other half in college. And no, I am not speaking of a romantic relationship. I am speaking of something better. A best friendship to the point where you can read them like an open book, when you know this relationship lasts forever unlike most college “romances.” My freshman year of college I was lucky enough to meet my other half. He is truly a magnificent friend and I am so grateful for every bit of advice and friendship he has given me.
Part of what makes a great friendship is being able to look up to the person without jealousy. Sam is truly one of the strongest, most talented, individuals I know and I aspire to be like him. However, I am not jealous. His talents and insight make me want to work extra hard. Real friendships push each other when you can't push yourself. That is something I love about our friendship. Another thing is that we make each other laugh non-stop when we know one of us wants to cry, and when we have to cry, we let it happen without judgment.
Sam, thank you for being the bestest friend-sidekick, a person could ask for. There is not a single person I would rather re-enact movie scripts with, free style in Brooklyn with, fart in front of and save at 3:00 a.m. because your car broke down.
I am Lucky.
