Yes, I am a gym rat who has no ass, and frankly I'm proud. I've always been considered a skinny girl, but one year I decided to work on myself. That is when I turned to the gym. It is when I started going to the gym that I found my passion for weight lifting. Yes, I run 5ks and occasionally can be spotted on the treadmill, but you can almost always find me with the weights.
Now even though I have been weight lifting for nearly 4 years, my body in no way has drastically changed. I may have had an increase in muscle, but I still have body fat, and I still look pretty much the same. I mean, I even weigh the same amount. However, what most don't see is how my mentality and strength has drastically improved. I have become less prone to injury, less prone to panic attacks from stress, and I have gotten physically stronger. I may not have formed a bigger butt, but what I did form is a more enduring attitude.
Progress is progress no matter how big or small. You have to look at each person's circumstances. I'm the girl who will eat clean one day and pig out on pizza and sweets the next. I'm a college student who makes her own workouts and doesn't have a personal trainer. I get to the gym three times a week on top of my school work, job, and extra curricular activities. To me, I'm doing a kick ass job. I don't need to have the biggest muscles or the nicest glutes. My family, friends, and even myself, love me for who I am. As long as I can make improvements over time and release stress through the gym, I will always be happy with my work.
What matters at the end of the day is how you portray yourself. I know when I have been making improvements, and I know when I need to push myself to do better. When you make a change in your lifestyle you will never know what will change. Your body may change by going to the gym or it might not. Your mentality might change or it might not.
