Thank You, Mom

Thank you for being there when we need it the most.

Thank You, Mom
Katie Pyle

Growing up we always rely on our moms, to wake us up in the morning, to keep everything on schedule, to remind us what's important and to show us love in and out. Whether biological, adopted, step, or our own chosen mom figures, they show us love in so many ways. Don't get me wrong, dads deserve credit too but this one is special for moms. The older I get the more I realize how much my mom has affected my life time and time again. As things change, we enter new phases in life, our mom is one thing that never changes, she is part of our firm foundation.

Life can be crazy sometimes and no matter how old we may be life has its way of throwing us curveballs. At times like that, that are a little more trying than others, this is when we appreciate our moms the most. Growing up we always relied on our moms to be there, we didn't question if we could trust them or rely on them, we just did. Yes, as a teenager we might have questioned things here or there but in all reality at the end of the day we knew they loved us and just wanted what was best for us. Our days can be slightly overwhelming or it may seem like a whirlwind of things are coming our way, even in the midst of the craziness, the moment I call my mom everything seems to be little, whether we talk about the day's craziness or not. Talking to her is soothing and almost a reality check that things will work out, we just have to keep moving forward and it's okay to take the time to seek that comfort. They are our greatest supporters and friends.

It's a wonderful feeling to experience unconditional love. We all know we don't need to thank someone for loving us but our moms were there from the start and deserve the credit at the end of the day. They taught us how to love and how to give people a fair chance and to show love to others.

Although we are all grateful for our moms, we don't always take the time to say thank you. Thank you for being there when we're upset over the most unnecessary things, for telling us that things will always get better (they do), for cheering us on even when we didn't have faith in ourselves, for being honest with us, for checking in even if we forget to ask how your day was, for rubbing our backs when we're sick, for buying us a puppy even though you know you're the one who will be taking care of it (13 years later I finally took ownership!), for always being there even in the dead of night. So thank you mom, for everything.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
