Take a minute to smell the roses...

Always Enjoy The Little Things

Life man, it'll get ya. It will bite you in the butt, it will destroy you, it will make you smile, but that's life. I'll be the first one to tell you, life isn't always easy or fair, and it often leaves you questioning yourself and your own worth. It's just like the saying goes, it's like a roller coaster, many ups and many downs. But, we often neglect those ups and tend to focus on all the stress those down's bring us. I'm here to tell you it's okay to flaunt those ups sometimes and appreciate them too. Everyone deserves to be acknowledge and appreciated. It's okay to be happy, and be proud. Through all the rough patches in our lives, we need to remember those good times, those laughs, those songs, even those simple few words that made a difference today. Take it all in, every moment of every day.

Enjoy those late night car rides that consist of you screaming at the top of your lungs to those classic hits of the 2000s. Remember the way you laughed so hard when your best friend tried to hit that high note but epically failed. You have no care in the world and don't even look at the clock just driving for miles with no final destination.

Enjoy the deep conversations. The way you vent for hours, with tears running down your face and no words even need to be said after. Those people who just get it, and you connect to no matter what the situation is.

Enjoy the excitement you feel when you find that perfect nail color. Those deep reds in the winter quickly turn to those pretty pinks in the spring. You can't help but find the perfect lighting to make them shine so naturally for your snapchat story.

Enjoy the feeling of that sip of ice cold water after your two mile run. You're so parched and nothing else in the world seems so perfect in this moment then pouring that jug of water into your favorite water bottle.

Enjoy the people around you. Take a minute to let it all in, and appreciate the ones who make you smile and laugh today. Thank them.

Enjoy your success. There is no greater feeling then getting that "A" on your paper you spent hours writing. Celebrate and don't be afraid to be proud of yourself, you did it.

But most importantly, enjoy life. Take a minute every day to appreciate who you are and what you have. You are special and someone in this world would do anything to be just like you. When times get hard and you feel like giving up just remember it could always be worse, and remember to recognize those little things in life.

Stay beautiful.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
