To my teachers,

Besides our parents, some of the first adults we begin to develop relationships with are our teachers. The better of an impression our teachers leave us with at a younger age, the more likely we are to thrive and enjoy our schooling experience. Often times, we neglect to acknowledge the motivation that our teachers have offered us. Reflecting upon my elementary school years, I realize how much inspiration my teachers have actually provided me with, intentionally or not. I was lucky enough to grow and develop with you all serving as the best teachers possible, who helped me to learn my full potential for each of my abilities.

My elementary school teachers taught me the basics, and for that I have never forgotten any of you. While teaching me my ABCs and 123s, you also managed to teach me a thing or two about life. As my teachers, you taught me that communications was more than just an English class, and goals expanded past the "aim" on the board each day. You always wanted to listen to what I had to say, and always knew just what to do. You helped me to aim to achieve great things, even at such a young age.

To my first grade teacher -- you taught us about math and money by turning a lesson into a shopping game. We could "buy" any book in the classroom that was "for sale" if we had the right amount of money. This allowed us social interaction, while also enhancing our skills with money, and helping us to determine what types of books we may or may not be interested in. You may or may not have influenced my love for shopping, but I know how to manage my money.

To my third grade teacher -- you had the most significant impact on my life, and inspired me most of all of my teachers to go into the field of education. When I look back to that year, I remember making more friendships than I did the rest of my years in school. Thanks to you, I met my best friend, who is now my roommate. You have never left my memory, or my heart, and I hope to one day run a classroom as smoothly and efficiently as you could.

To my fifth grade teacher -- you ran your classroom in such a marvelous way, beginning the year by establishing a personal class mission statement and a mascot. We were the bulldogs. This mission statement set guidelines for how we wanted to be treated as students, classmates, and how we should treat you, as our teacher. The mission statement worked, and held the class together like a family.

When high school rolled around, and I started to grow up, life choices began to change and the people who would influence my life became more important. I made the most significant decision in regards to my high school career, and entered into a homeroom where I met the teacher that would help me find who I am today.

To my homeroom teacher throughout high school -- thank you for motivating me to do my best throughout the years. Thank you for inspiring me to pursue all of my goals, and for giving me the tasks I wasn't always sure that I could handle. You always motivated me to do my best, be it in my academics, my extra curricular activities, or even in my personal life. When I look back at high school, I remember the memories you've helped me to make. I hope to one day impact a student the way you have me.

Thank you to all of my teachers, for allowing me to blossom into the person I am today.

-- A student, truly left in awe

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
