How did you find Akidearest’s channel on YouTube? You might have found Aki because you were looking for a fellow cosplayer on the Internet. You might have been seeking out the meaning behind some dark and twisted Vocaloid songs. You may have been simply looking for some otaku related content. Maybe you have never even heard of Akidearest and want to know more about this tentacle-loving YouTuber.
I guess I can start by explaining how I found Akidearest. Back in my early days of exploring anime, I also began finding all sorts of awesome content on YouTube and subscribing to several channels every week. I started watching a lot of anime YouTubers while I was trying to decide what series to check out. One of these YouTubers was The Anime Man (no, not Aki... not yet), and I really enjoyed his anime rants and the rest of his content. In two of his videos, I noticed that he mentioned another YouTuber called Akidearest, and I decided to check them out.
I am sorry to say that I do not remember which of her videos was my first because when I found her channel, I watched several videos over and over again. I do remember that I watching “10 People at Every Convention Dance Ever,” “Ayame Bot: LET’S CHAT!”, and “Types of Fangirl Screams.” (That last video is one of the most accurate video I have ever seen. I know a lot of fangirls, and I have heard almost every kind of fangirl scream.)
I became a loyal subscriber of Aki after that, and I remember the only thing about her that annoyed me was that it seemed like it took forever for her to post videos. As time went on and Aki’s channel grew larger and larger, she was joined by the ever-lovin' Tentacle-sama. I was excited to see her develop as a YouTuber with recurring segments and skits. I had never listened to Hatsune Miku and Vocaloid until Aki’s Vocaloid lists. I would always look forward to her Samurai Buyer unboxing videos, and not just because of the outfits. (Since I’m on the topic, the Rem & Ram costumes were my favorite.) #DearAki is probably my favorite series that she does, and Doom reads the questions perfectly.
That is probably enough free advertising in this article for now. Besides, I also want to use this article to thank Aki for everything she does for me and the rest of her fans. With every video that Aki posts, she acts as a friend to hundreds of thousands of geeks and otakus. She gives us a break from our daily lives to laugh and indulge in our interests. I am sure that I am not the only one, but Aki is an inspiration for me to pursue joy and work hard. Like Akidearest, I am a content creator, and I would like to be able to make a living off doing what I love. I may not make YouTube videos, and I have a long way to go until I am as popular as Aki, but I am encouraged to not give up and chase after my dreams.
I really, really hope that you are reading this, Akidearest, because I want to thank you. Thank you, Aki. Thanks for everything that you do and for being a friend through a computer screen. Thanks for providing tons of otaku related content and for being best girl (Yes, even better than Rem). Happy belated birthday, and I cannot wait for you to get over a million subscribers. We’re all rooting for you!
