Myself personally, I love playing sports and to watch sports. But the thing in sports I don't like to see is players getting hurt. There's a lot of sports that don't involve much contact like Baseball, Bowling, Golf, and Tennis. In non-contact sports, the risks of getting injured are a lot less likely than getting injured in contact sports. Usually the injuries that happen in non-contact sports are injuries to yourself. There's other sports that involve a lot of contact, the risks of getting injured are a lot higher. Especially sports like football, hockey, basketball, and soccer.
I like to play sports competitively and just for fun. The sports that I've played in my life are Baseball and Football. I did a learn to skate program couple years ago so I was able to play some ice hockey but it wasn't at a competitive level. I also did rec basketball and soccer. They were great just to play for fun in my town. Baseball in my town is very competitive. I've been playing since Little League and I tried out for the Dean College baseball team last year although, It didn't last too long with that. Besides playing baseball, I've also been involved with doing some coaching and I love watching baseball. It's my favorite sport. Going into my freshman year of high school, a lot of my friends were signed up to play freshman football. My twin brother and I decided to sign up and play. I knew playing it would be a lot of fun cause I never experienced the opportunity to go out and play in pads. After the first week of preseason camp with the pads on, it was tough getting used to running with pads on then with no pads at all. The risk coming into playing football in high school is the risk of getting injured. There's more just to the injury front of playing football, it's being able to committing to all the activities that the coaches assigns you to do. In football, you can get hit literally anywhere. I don't like any injuries but 3 common injuries where players get hurt a lot, is there ACL, MCL, and suffering concussions. That's why in the NFL I don't understand why some players who have dealt with multiple head injuries due to playing Football still want to play it. Head injuries are the worst because normally once you have one, there's a risk for a player to have another one. As much as I liked playing tackle football, I decided after my second year of high school that I will quit and stop playing. It was a tough decision of mine as I enjoyed playing with all my teammates and I liked the coaches who ran the program. Two of my decisions on why I stopped playing was I didn't want to risk myself getting hurt before baseball season and I wasn't fully committed to the program. When I played Football my freshman and sophomore year of high school, I was a tight end and a defensive end. I enjoyed playing both positions but out of the two, tight end was my favorite cause your able to catch the ball and block on run plays so its kind of the best of both worlds. My twin brother on the hand played all four years as an offense and defensive tackle. He was a lot more committed to the program than I was.
To wrapt things up, to all players who are doing contact sports, I'm not saying don't stop playing the sport. If you enjoy it stick with it. Even if your not playing football competitively, I still like to play for fun so it's not like if your not playing a sport competitively, you can still play for fun. It's just that there's more of a risk of having an injury in a contact sport than getting an injury from a non-contact sports.
