Advice to my Future Daughter

1. You can tell me anything.

- Even if you think I don't want to hear it, tell me. Something random pops into your head? Tell me. You have a special someone? Tell me (I'll find out whether you do or not...don't forget your momma is basically a FBI agent.) You feel like you're falling apart? TELL ME. There is nothing you can ever say to me that will change the love I have for you.

2. Spend as much time with your grandparents as possible.

- You're grandparents are hands down the coolest people ever! Your grandmother is an angel and your grandfather is the funniest man I know.

3. Read!

- Fill your life with piles of books. Reading is a great way to escape reality if you ever feel anxious or stressed.

4. Don't focus on what other people think.

- You are beautiful inside and out. Don't let anyone let you feel otherwise.

5. Love you who you love.

- Don't let me or anybody else tell you who you should or shouldn't love. If you aren't following societal norms, don't be afraid to keep going.

6. Be impulsive but don't be reckless.

- Take a blind leap of faith. If you get hurt, learn from it. Always follow your heart.

7. It's okay to feel sad.

- Mope around. Eat ice cream. Listen to sad music. Just please don't let it consume you. It's a bad day, not a bad life.

8. It's also okay to feel happy.

- Go shopping with your friends. Go to the park. Go spread your happiness with the world.

9. Please try not to dwell on your mistakes.

- It will be tough, but just take a deep breathe and rub some dirt on it. No matter how embarrassing the situation is, you'll move on and so will everyone else.

10. Be yourself!

- Sweetheart, love yourself and don't wait for somebody else to. I love you with all my heart. You were brought into this world for a reason and this world wouldn't be the same without you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
