To All The Girls Who Had Their Hearts Broken

Are you one of the girls that cried for hours on end for one person?

To all the girls who had their hearts broken, you are not alone. In fact, you are never alone. Wanna know why? Because we've all been there.

In fact, first loves are always the worst. There's a reason people say first loves never work out, and here is the reason why. Our first loves are a painted illusion formed in our brains; who we expect them to be is never who they actually are.

Our love for them is too much and yet we erase all of their flaws and envision that they reciprocate those feelings. But when we actually go up to them or look at them from afar, they fail our expectations, thus, explaining the hurt feeling at the end.

Our hearts cannot simply hold strong after realizing the bitter truth: that they don't care. That they never did. And immediately, we are jolted awake away from our dreams.

Most first loves are either not reciprocated, misunderstood, or both parties stopped trying. Fights break out, hateful words get exchanged, and violent tantrums get thrown. And in the end, it's always the person that loved the most wanting to go back on their word, wanting to stop loving, wanting to stop existing.

But really, is crying over one person all that worth it?

There's a lot of fish in the sea. There are many sad quotes on Instagram to relate to. There are many broken girls you might be sitting next to, and you may not realize that because you refuse to open your heart again.

Yes, at the time, you may think your life is over. That the one person you had faith in did not like you. That the one person that you spent hours talking to in your head did not respond to your efforts. That the one person that did not try reflects everyone.

Remember this: one person cannot reflect everyone. In fact, that one person came from the percentage of people that will break your heart. One cannot go through life without having their hearts broken.

Let me tell you the truth: you will get your heart broken. And if you were the lucky one who didn't thus far, expect one in the future. Regardless, nobody lives a perfect life, so those who nearly do, please cherish that, for one day, you will go through someone that can eventually hurt you, and I wouldn't want you to lose yourself because of that.

You are worth so much more than that, so don't bend yourself backward just because of one person because fate merely pushed you sideways when you ran into someone that you thought was gonna be your whole life, but fate recognized that the person just wasn't right for you. Who knows, maybe in another corner you will find someone that will put the same effort, if not more, for fighting for you.

To all the girls out there, please don't give up. There is someone for you. Just not yet. Be patient, and the right one will come along.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
