If you have ever been a lifeguard, I am sure you feel the exact same way about the absolute best parts of the job. I mean, besides being one the the best jobs there could possibly be out there, there isn't much to not love about being a guard.

First off, the tan lines are amazing. Being a lifeguard means that you get to sit in a chair in a one piece All. Day. Long. I honestly think that this is everyone's favorite. Because you are in this amazing one piece, you get to get the best "X" on the top of your back and then a circle at your lower back. It's almost as if you are putting a big XO on your back to show everyone how much you love your job.

Next, anytime you are ever at a pool, you always feel the need to watch the pool. You could be actually working or relaxing by a friend's pool, but you always feel the need to make sure no one is drowning. This is awesome because you know that you are getting a ton of practice and experience without having to even get paid for it.

Then, there is the constant sound of your own voice yelling the word "walk." There are always kids running around the pool so because you are always getting the chance to work when you're at a pool, this is a word that comes out of your mouth a lot. And if you have been around the job long enough, you will even start to yell it when you aren't working, or even better, when you're just laying on the beach.

Since I personally have become a lifeguard, I have been able to choose my future children's name. Because I have been able to hear the name "Marco Polo" 70,394,857 times a day means that I will never get tired of hearing it, and it is probably the best possible name there is in this world.

When sitting in the amazingly hot sun, my favorite thing to do is have my whistle in my hand. When you are a life guard, you get to spin your whistle around your finger as much as you want to. You can do it as fast or as slow as you want. Because this is all up to you, it really makes the time pass a little slower. You can count how many times it goes around and then figure out how many times you have to swing it before your shift is over. If you are really feeling adventurous, you can count how many people are in the pool at all times. Wouldn't want to go over your limit.

Even though all of these are some pretty amazing things, my favorite thing to do is to open and close the pool. There are so many responsibilities, and it makes me feel so needed. My personal favorite is when the people who closed the night before left me with all of their work to do including mine for the morning! I know that they mean to do it on purpose because they know how much I love to do extra work that I have to rush in, and I am so thankful for them keeping me in mind.

All in all, lifeguarding is such an amazing and incredible job. There is so much to keep you occupied while you are sitting in your chair counting the number of times your whistle spins around your finger. Even though the life-guarding lifestyle is not made for everyone, I sure am glad it was made for me!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
