O say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
All the work we have done, throughout our ages,
Since declaring from our neighbor to the right
Our freedom as a nation on our pages?
But were we lucky to succeed in our quest:
To demand total freedom, and then fly,
Never meeting resistance, as would be best,
A hung flag waving so freely and up high?
We may have had our skeletons of fair share,
From both yesterday and even so today,
Demons we all know are around here and there,
But they're ones we can agree will never stay…
They won't if we can all relate and pitch in:
Help one another and make each other great,
Honor the name we created and begin,
Instead of allowing it to burn from hate.
While we once had longed to break free and away,
We all stood together to fight for this right,
So, put divisions aside for this one day,
And celebrate all that's red, blue, and white!
