The Significance Behind A Small Grain Of Sand

When it comes to a sand, you usually think it is a tiny thing which is not meaningful. Existing in this world, you may think of yourself as a grain of sand, you may think you are so small; therefore, maybe you cannot help anyone or do something significant in this life. Listening to the attractive noise every day from your friend: the wave, you may be surprised and think that he can attract more attention. Then you might look at yourself and feel disappointed that you are just a quiet grain sand.

Every day people trample upon you. They seem to ignore you. You cannot say something. You always keep silent because you are not confident with everything including yourself. Being silent does not mean you are useless. You do not need to do some outstanding things to attract people like the wave. You only need to be helpful by your own values. Do you know how a glittering pearl can be made? Maybe you will be surprised that you play an important role in the process of making this luxurious jewelry.

At the first time of discovering this world by using the soft tongue to taste the fresh atmosphere, the oyster may not think that it will get hurt because of you after closing its shell. When the oyster recognizes that you are stuck inside its house, it tries to kick you out of its zone. However, you are stubborn because you feel warm and safe inside its shell. The oyster may think it can kill you by spewing carbonate calcium, but then you even grow up day after day.

In the end, from a tiny ugly grain of sand, you become a beautiful pearl which is a dream of every woman on this planet. Therefore, you see, sometimes you feel not confident with yourself because of being tiny or ugly; however, you should be proud of yourself because you can be shiny and valuable, which makes people admire and look for. One day, there is a someone coming and looking at you, then he picks you up off the ground and mixes with mortar to build a beautiful house next to the beach.

Now, do you realize how important you are? Maybe you usually think you are just a weak sand. Wind can blow you away; water can make you wet and sink into the bottom of the ocean and people always step on your body. Will you cry when thinking about that? You should not. You are not alone, and you may not recognize there are still lots of sands out there. And those will stand by you and suffer with you.

Sometimes all of you can become the strongest power if you help each other. Skyscrapers, roads, or beautiful glasses are made from you. Sands are even the boss of a large area in the world- Sahara Desert. Moreover, you can be able to make people scare because of your power when everyone connects with each other such as sandstorms or tornadoes. So, you should think more optimistically that you are not weak. You are amazing and beautiful and strong.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
