Finals are finally over, the sun is shining, and summer vacation is finally here. We’ve been dreaming about this time ever since the stress of a million tests and papers hit and we finally made it. But summer as a college student isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Here are nine thoughts a college student on summer vacation progresses through over their summer break.
1. This summer is going to be epic.
Seriously, I’m going to go on sooo many adventures and hang out with everyone in my hometown. I won’t ever be stuck at my house on the weekends, and every night will be a party. This is going to be my summer. The summer I will never forget.
2. Wait, how is it going to be epic without all of my friends?
I kind of forgot I really don’t like any of these people. After about two weeks I get real sick of their existence and I want my college friends back. Why do they have to live so far away?
3. I’m going to get in really good shape this summer.
I got this. I can go workout every morning before work and go on a run every night. I’ll get in the best shape of my life and head back to school looking hella good.
4. Too bad I’ve said that every summer for five years.
Yeah, that didn’t last long. I forgot I hate getting up early and need to cherish every single minute of precious sleep I can get. And by the time I get off of work, all I want to do is eat dinner and watch Netflix. Maybe next summer.
5. I’m going to try out that new diet I’ve been wanting to experiment with.
Doc says I need more fruits and veggies. Let’s make a balanced diet and count calories so I know what I’m eating. Maybe I can lose weight eating better so I don’t have to exercise.
6. Lol that lasted two days.
Apparently mac 'n' cheese and twizzlers aren’t on this diet. I don’t like it. Summer's supposed to be fun, which means I get to eat fun foods, right?
7. What Netflix series should I start next?
I finished "Grey’s," "OTH," "PLL," and "Gossip Girl" already. What should I start next? I heard "Vampire Diaries" is pretty good. I wonder how many series I can manage to finish this summer.
8. I don’t want to go to work. Is this what the real world is like?
The rents told me I had to get a job. I can do this. Oh wait, I have to get up at 6:30 a.m. every day? Nope, I can’t do this. Sign me out. This is miserable. I can’t believe I’m going to have to do this every day of my life once college ends.
9. Is the summer over yet?
Yeah, I’m ready to go back to school now. This isn’t fun. I miss my friends and I want to move back into my own space. Love my parents, but, man, I miss the freedom of college.
