Congratulations! You’re closing in on the end of your first year of college. You did it! It’s been a long road, getting used to college life, making friends and handling heavy course loads. But somehow, you figured it out and got through it, and you probably even enjoyed it! Now, your first year is coming to an end, and there are lots of thoughts running through your mind.

1. How did this year go by so fast?

I feel like I just moved in to my dorm, and now I’m moving out. This year went by so quickly, but I learned a lot, made new friends, and enjoyed it all.

2. Can I just watch Netflix for the rest of the semester?

I have no motivation to do anything. I would much rather continue my One Tree Hill marathon on Netflix than study.

3. Why are cumulative finals even a thing?

I don’t remember those terms from the beginning of the semester. How in the world am I supposed to pass a test about things I haven’t thought about in months?

4. I. Am. So. Tired.

Sleep deprivation is a real thing. Messy hair, bags under my eyes, and constant yawning are just a part of my personality at this point.

5. I never want to look at a textbook again.

Textbooks aren’t the most thrilling reading material, but during finals week, they are my lifeline. However, I never want to look at another one ever again.

6. Do I HAVE to wear jeans?

At this point in the year, I am content with sweatpants and gym shorts all day long. I don’t have the energy to put on jeans.

7. It’s going to be so weird living with my parents again.

I hope my parents don’t go back into helicopter parent mode. I have learned how to survive on my own, and I hope they still give me some freedom.

8. Where did all my money go?

I’m poor. This year drained me physically, mentally, and financially. I spent so much money, and the only thing I have to show for it is some textbooks, a university t-shirt, and some hairspray.

9. Is it socially acceptable to eat cereal for every meal of the day?

I just really like cinnamon toast crunch, okay?

10. I’m going to miss my friends.

It’s going to be so weird not seeing my college friends every day. I’ve gotten so used to having them as my family all year long, it’s going to be different having to go through things without them for a few months.

11. This year wasn’t so bad.

College life actually turned out to be not so bad. I had a lot of fun times, made a lot of great memories, and I’m actually already looking forward to seeing what next year holds for me!

12. I’m actually pretty proud of myself.

I worked hard this year, and I’m pretty proud of my accomplishments. Who knew I had it in me?

This year has been a great one! So many emotions are running through my mind when I think back on this year. I’m happy that it’s over, yet sad that I’m leaving my friends for the summer. I’m also excited for what lies ahead for me. Here’s to another three years of memories!

Have a good summer!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
