9 Things Non-Partying College Students Understand

I hate partying and it becomes quite frustrating having to be around people who party all the time. If you're like me, you're not alone!

Having never been much of a party-er at all in my whole life, I get really frustrated that 99% of college students are more focused on going out and getting drunk or high every night than anything else in their life. I know I can't be the only one who doesn't involve themselves in parties, so this list is for the 1% that would choose a night at home rather than a night at a house party.

1. Loud Drunks

I cannot explain to you how many times I've been woken up at all odd hours of the night on school nights and weekends when I have to be up for work by loud drunk people. I get it if you want to be drunk and party but it is so rude to just be loud and drunk at night when you know there are people who are trying to sleep and likely have to be up in the morning. You're a rude idiot if you are loud as hell when you're drunk - no exceptions.

2. Alienation From Friends Who Party

If you're like me and only have one or two friends who don't party or enjoy partying, then you must understand how it feels to have other friends who are obsessed with it. I hate not being able to talk with people who I thought were my friends because they're too busy planning their next party to get drunk and high at. It's really annoying to try and speak to them about things other than parties because they just will not listen.

3. Annoyingly Drunk Roommates

Having to deal with drunk people outside of your dorm/apartment is so much different than dealing with drunk people INSIDE of where you're trying to exist. It's so very annoying hearing them saying loud drunk things within their room that is right next to mine and hearing them scrounging through the fridge and cabinets in the kitchen when they have the munchies. I'd much rather have roommates more into actually doing things related to your major or school in college than ones who couldn't give a damn and just want to get drunk and high.

4. Innocence Towards Drugs and Alcohol

I don't know anything about drunks and alcohol. So, when my friends or people around me are talking about these things, I have no input and no experience with any of it for the most part. They always make fun of me for not knowing about certain drugs they do and buy and certain types of alcohol they consume daily. It's really frustrating to not understand or want to understand what others are talking about.

5. Not Being Able To Relate To Partyers

I just don't relate to my peers who I hear talking about getting really stoned and blackout drunk every single night. I hear them talking about it so excitedly and enjoyably but the idea of it all just sounds horribly terrifying to me. You're going to spend a hundred dollars on things that make you not yourself and also sick in the future? You're excited to be around a bunch of sweaty and intoxicated kids? Why?

6. Seeing Partying College Kids In The Road

When I'm driving back to my on-campus housing from work at night, it's really annoying to try and maneuver through a bunch of drunk kids running, frolicking and swerving among the street. There are numerous times where i have to literally swerve out of my own lane in order to avoid hitting some drunk college kids who are too far out in the road and too stoned and intoxicated to give a damn.

7. Strong Hatred Towards Partyers

I just really hate people who constantly party. It's very distracting to those who care about school and their future more than they care about parties and drinking. It's also really annoying because drunk/high people can be disrespectful to people around them. If these people weren't as rude, annoying, and distracting then I may be able to tolerate their behavior during intoxicaiton, but no. They're all the cliche college students who care about nobody but themselves when they're partying.

8. Having Money In Your Bank Account

The fact that I don't party or get drunk means my savings account is much more filled than a savings account owned by a partying kid. I don't have to waste money on driving to random houses for uncomfortable sweaty parties, I don't have to pay for getting into a party, and I also don't have to buy alcohol or marijuana for parties and friends because I have more on my mind.

9. Waking Up Without Hangovers

I have never had to wake up with a hangover because I don't get drunk at parties or aywhere. This is a really good thing about being a non-partying college student. I mean, there's the whole waking up refreshed and not sick and then there's also the whole idea that I get my school work done and I'm able to hold down a steady job while being a full time student.

I severely doubt I'll ever be going to a college party in my lifetime and I'm thankful for that because from what I've heard it isn't even fun. I'll stick to the 1% I'm in that enjoy staying home on their computer and eating a bunch of food

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
