9 Lessons The Youngest Sister Learns The Hard Way

One thing I know for sure is that you don't get to pick your family. I didn't choose to have three sisters, and better yet be the youngest of them all. Shocker, right? I was put into this family for who knows what reasons. It just is the way it is. But what I do know is that these three girls taught me everything I know. From what not to wear, to always hugging my mom and dad goodbye, here are the nine most important things I learned growing up (and I wouldn't change it for one million dollars).

1. Always check with your sister AFTER you borrow her clothes.

If you ask to borrow something before you go to school or that party, there's no chance you will ever leave the house with it on.

2. There will always be more hand-me-downs.

On the other hand, one your sister has gone back to school shopping, she is more than happy to give you a trash bag full of clothes from 3 years ago. So don't expect your parents to buy you any new clothing

3. You will be the easiest to pick on, so take it with a grain of salt.

There's nothing worse when one of your siblings embarrasses you in front of your friends (or even in front of theirs), but I still haven't learned my way around this because it is seemingly impossible. Just remember to laugh at yourself. Believe it or not, there will be moments you'll get them back.

4. But if someone else is teasing you, they'll be right by your side.

Sisters aren't the evilest beings on earth. They are there to protect you from anyone that would hurt you (other than themselves of course).

5. You probably won't get in trouble as much.

Seeing your sisters get in trouble for a multitude of different reasons has basically taught you what NOT to do.

6. But with that, comes the "she always gets away with things".

Your sisters start to notice every word that comes out of your mouth. So when you don't get in trouble for cursing at them, they get angry.

7. You should always hug your mom and dad before you leave the house, no matter what.

Not only does it remind your parents that you love and care about them, but it also creates a sense of security for them, so they will trust you more.

8. Chores will always get passed down to you.

No matter what, there will always be an extra job for you because your sister convinces you to do it. They know how much you want their attention, so be careful, because they will bribe you.

9. And finally, you always need to remind your sisters that you love them.

Before you know it, you'll be off to college living your own lives and your sisters won't be around to nag you anymore. They'll always be a phone call away but don't take that for granted.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
