There are several types of people that partake in DIY projects. You can be the person who makes a living out of it, one who uses it to make necessary products to live, someone who does it for aesthetic purposes, or someone who isn't the best at them. Let me guide you through the process of someone who isn't the best at them.
1. Scroll through Pinterest or whatever social media you prefer and brainstorm some ideas.
To be honest, you and me both know that all you're gonna do is scroll through Pinterest for the next few hours, constantly pinning photos of DIY's that are going to be impossible to make. Most of the photo's you see are taken by professionals after countless hours were spent on the final product.
2. Decide against most of them after realizing they're too complicated.
When it comes time to narrow down the choices you realize that close to none are going to be easy. Then you remember that you don't even need half of these DIY's. Now with all of the ones you won't be able to make and the ones you won't need gone, it's finally time to actually pick one.
3. Finally choose a DIY that is easy to make with minimal supplies.
Choosing a DIY can be hard with all of the different choices you have. Finally choosing one can give you just the boost of energy you need to complete it all.
4. Go through your supplies only to realize you need to go to the store.
You've torn apart the DIY storage space you've made and looked through every cupboard for what you may need until seeing that you have basically nothing you need. Now it's time to run out to the store and buy what you need.
5. Get started on the project.
The first few steps, especially setting it up can be the easiest. Completing the first few steps gives you a big boost of confidence on how it is going to turn out.
6. Mess up on the project.
DIY projects can get difficult and there's nothing worse than making a mistake. It can force you to take a step back and redo what you've already done, but you've come this far and you can make it through.
7. Take a break from the project.
Actually, you're getting kind of tired of this. Maybe after messing up you just need to clear your head and come back stronger? Yeah, a break sounds like a good idea.
8. Forget about the project.
You told yourself you would come back to it later. Then later turned into tomorrow and tomorrow turned into next week. In just a few days, you have half of your supplies stuffed in a pile in the corner waiting for you to come back to it.
9. Complete the project.
After who knows how long, you finally come back to the project you started and you eventually finish it. It's not about how long it took you to make it, or how good it looks. What does matter is that you made something, and now it can be a useful asset to your life.
