I have a lot of best friends - but only one of them takes the cake as my true, absolute best friend. She is the only person who has been there for me during the very worst times (middle school - yikes) and the very best times (graduating from high school.) There will never be anyone else on this planet that will know me as well as she knows me and for that reason I am extremely grateful for her friendship. My mother is the sole reason I am on this planet, and she has stuck with me through thin and thin. She is forever going to be my partner in crime, and here's why:
1. She comes to visit me in college regardless of how busy she is.
I've only been away at school for 6 months and my mom has visited me well over the average amount of times. She has her own life with her own responsibilities, but if I call her up and ask her to come hang out with me 3 hours away, she will not hesitate to drop everything and come see me. Work? Called out sick. Events? Cancelled. Trip to Orlando? Booked.
2. She helps me whenever I have silly questions - even about laundry.
Okay fine. So maybe I still struggle with knowing what items I should use the delicate cycle for. The last thing I need is for my favorite silk top to come out of the dryer 3 sizes too small.
3. She always gives me recipes to make in the kitchen.
Living in college is a struggle, but at least my dorm has a kitchen. It didn't take long for me to grow tired of boiling pasta every day, and when that happened, the first person I reached out to was my mom. She never fails to give me new dinner ideas that are quick, efficient, and delicious (like that butternut squash lasagna she once had me make; wow.)

4. She gives me advice on boys.
So maybe a lot of college students don't feel comfortable talking to their parents about their love life; however, in my case, my mother is the best person to go to whenever I need relationship advice. She's understanding, considerate, and kind... not to mention she totally approves of my taste in boys.
5. She's the perfect shopping buddy.
Whenever my mom comes to visit me, the first words that come out of her mouth are, "Let's go shopping." I don't think I love any other set of words as much as I love those.

6. We share the same sense of humor.
I can make the most idiotic of jokes and my mom will laugh. Seriously.
7. Whenever I need someone to talk to, she's there for me.
It's easy to get homesick when you're away at college for a long time. In fact, living on your own for the first time can nearly drive you nuts. The good thing is, my mom is always just a short phone call away - rest assured she'll always pick up within the first 3 rings.
8. Traveling is always fun with her by my side.
If there's one thing my mom and I can bond over, it is our obsession with traveling. Whether it be on a plane, ship, or train, I know I will have a good time with her by my side.

9. She is more than just someone who gave birth to me.
Oftentimes, I hear people talk about their parents like just that - parents. To me, my mother is much more than just someone who gave birth to me. She is the only person who truly understands me, and I don't think I will ever have someone like that enter my life again.
I will always have other friends throughout my life, but at the end of the day, my true best friend will always be the woman who has been with me from the very beginning. It is easy for me to see that my mom truly is my main best friend; and she forever will be.
