All-Star Cheerleading is an incredibly unique sport. It's a mix between tumbling, dancing, jumping, and stunting to make a highly demanding and challenging sport. For anyone who has ever been an All-Star Cheerleader, you know these lessons well:

1. Fake it until you make it.

Can't do a standing full? Throw a tuck, maybe the judges won't see.

2. You aren't handed anything. You have to work for it.

You make a team based on pure skill and talent and you win a competition based on difficulty and execution. You have to work in order to attain anything worth having.

3. Individual achievements are nothing compared to when your team achieves their goal.

It's great and all to get a new skill, but when your team all wins a competition or hits a perfect routine together, there is nothing quite like it.

4. There is no such thing as perfection; you can always improve.

You can always throw a more difficult pass, have a straighter needle, and a higher basket toss. 5. You can't let one mistake ruin everything.

If you fall from a stunt or touchdown in tumbling, it feels horrible, but you have to just stick a smile on your face and keep going and nail your next section.

6. You can't control others, only yourself.

There's no point in worrying how the other teams did or how your other teammates will do. All you can control is yourself and making sure you do the best you possibly can.

7. Any obstacle in your way is 90% mental.

If you are stressed, or doubting yourself, or scared, there is no way you will land your pass or hit your stunt. Success comes from confidence and perseverance.

8. Having a support system makes all of the difference.

Every cheerleader knows that a performance's energy is determined so much by the crowd and who is in it.

9. Never give up on your dreams.

Behind every level 5 cheerleader, there is a little girl who used to be on the youth 2 team and never gave up.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
