In the words of Leslie Knope, “Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”

It's February, and while all of the stores and couples are gearing up for Valentine's Day, us girls cannot forget about Galentine's Day which is just around the corner! February 13th is the official Galentine's Day date. This is pretty much the best day of the year because it's all about celebrating your BFFs. Do something special for your squad and make it a priority to celebrate each other's friendship. Las Vegas is a great place to show your lady friends you love them because there are so many unique spots to go to! Check out these eight great places to celebrate Galentine's Day in Las Vegas to get you started:

1. Brunch at The Grand Lux Café

Inside the Venetian and Palazzo hotel is The Grand Lux Café which has something delicious for everyone. Select breakfast options are served all day and their lunch menu is so extensive you won't be able to make up your mind. Gather your girlfriends for Bellini’s and mimosas to celebrate gal-pals all around!

2. Pajama Party at the Cosmo

Get a room at the Cosmopolitan and have an old fashioned sleepover. Do each other’s hair, makeup and watch scary movies. Reminisce on old memories and do all the games you used to play as a kid. Pig out on pizza and junk food, and don’t forget the champagne!

3. Happy Hour at Double Helix

Happy hour just got better! Celebrate your gal-pals with an after-work cocktail at Double Helix in Town Square. They have impressive wine and whiskey specials. Spice this up by having everyone bring a small delightful dessert to pass around. Wine, whiskey and wonderful sweets are a divine way to celebrate your girlfriends!

4. NYE Treatment at Scarpetta

Get dolled up and come dressed to impress for a fancy dinner at The Cosmopolitan with your girls! No boys to impress tonight, it's just you and your squad. This is the ultimate night to pass around compliments and cocktails. Put your phones on silent because there will be no texting tonight—especially to significant others! Treat yourself to some me-time and enjoy the company of your closest girlfriends over luxurious Italian cuisine. Scarpetta is great for catering to groups too!

5. Bar Hop Downtown at Fremont East

Why settle for one bar when you can have multiple? Galentine’s Day is just as much of a reason to let your wild side out as any other holiday on the calendar. Hop down Fremont Street and hit all the essentials like Commonwealth, Inspire, Beauty Bar and Vanguard Lounge. All have really good drink specials for locals and on weekdays! It’s like a bachelorette party without the pressure of a wedding!

6. Q Karaoke & Bistro bar

Sing all your fan-girl favorites at Q Karaoke. This place gives your group your own room, and you can sing among all your female friends all night! Better yet, add a theme. Each girl has to dress up and the best costume wins! Drinks are inexpensive and their munchies are extremely captivating.

7. Group Fitness Pole Dancing Class

You don’t need a valentine to work on those moves. This fitness class is an insane confidence booster. You use muscles you never even knew you had while mastering the art of pole dancing. It doesn’t hurt to know a thing or two in this department. Laugh and make memories with your girls in a private class!

8. Benihana

Dinner and a show! Hibachi tables are always a good time. Great conversations among the communal tables are bound to happen, and talented chefs will keep your eyes glued to the grill. Everyone can order something different and you all can share! It’s like a potluck but you don’t actually have to bring anything… Except your appetite.

9. Spa Day at The M Resort

What better way to celebrate your girls than by doing what girls do best? Manicures and pedicures are the perfect way to spend some quality time with your closest friends. Take your feet off the ground for a little and let yourself be pampered. If you want to go all out, you can hit the sauna and massage room as well! Show your Las Vegas IDs for a special rate!

Happy Galentine's Day!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
