Probably one of the most sacred Jewish holidays to happen is Yom Kippur. On this holiday the Jewish people fast for a day to clean themselves of sins committed in the past year. This holiday comes a week after the start of the new Jewish year as a way to start the year off right and sin free. So how do you get through a day without eating? These couple of steps may help you on your quest.

1. Do Nothing

Seriously like don't do anything. The best way to not feel hunger or thirst is to just sit down and do nothing for the day. Well until breakfast and then you can stuff your fucking face becasue you deserve it for fasting for the day.

2. Read a Book

Get your mind off of the events of the day and open your mind to a completely different word. It doesn't matter what kind of book you read as long as it works as a way to get your mind off the challenge at hand.

3. Watch Television

Television is my favorite way to get my mind off things that are happening to me. On this specific day I would stay clear of the food network or any food related shows. Remember your fasting so you cant eat or drink anything.

4. Write a Story

Let your mind do the work today. Write about anything you want! you want to write a story about cats in space? Do it! you want to create your own wizarding world like the Harry Potter world? By all means do it! juts get your mind off thinking about food.

5. Paint/Draw a Portrait

This requires little to no effort at all. Your drawing doesn't have to be Van Gough. Make this drawing or painting something of your own being. Be creative! I know it will be hard to concentrate with the lack of food but your imagination has no limit.

6. Listen to Music

Stay in bed all day and just drift off to your favorite songs. What better way to get food off your mind then laying in bed and listening to your favorite music.

7. Cook

This is solely for those who know that if they are near food they wont eat. Cook for the upcoming Breakfast happening later in the day, or just go out and get more bagels then you can carry out of the store. Who doesn't eat bagels at breakfast?

8. Get a Haircut

New Jewish year calls for a new hair style! getting a hair cut requires the most minuscule amount of energy you'll have to exert. The only energy you'll need to use it the energy it takes to get to the barber.

Don't worry about fasting! This only lasts one day and then guess what. You can eat again!! Just get your mind off thinking about the food and you'll have an easy fast. So to all my fellow Jews I hope you have an easy fast!!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
