8 Ways to Make a Bad Day Better

Bad days. We all have them and they are the absolute worst sometimes. Whether you wake up in a bad mood, get some bad news, or you don't really feel too good- your day doesn't sound too great. Here's the thing, it doesn't have to stay that way. Sometimes all you need is a little pick me up to get something good in for that day.

1. Ice cream and a movie

This is an old time classic that somehow makes everyone feel better at the end of the day. Splurge for you favorite Ben & Jerry's flavor to make it extra special. If you're feeling adventurous and don't want to wash dishes just eat the ice cream of the tub. It tastes better that way anyway.

2. Make a playlist

My shower playlist never fails when trying to get me to sing and have a good time. Fill a playlist with your favorite music including some old hits and throwbacks and you'll forget what you were stressing over a few minutes ao.

3. A good night out (or in)

Make it a point to do something fun that night whether it is going out and having fun or staying in with a few friends and laughing all night. Or maybe combine this with the ice cream and movie combo and have a nice movie night.

4. Take a nap

I know many people say not to go to sleep angry or upset, but I seem to forget how upset I was when I wake up. It really is almost like whatever happened is non-existent and everything is okay again.

5. Watch funny videos

There has to be millions of funny videos and between Vine and YouTube to make your day better. America's Funniest Home Videos is on Netflix too so you'll never run out of videos to watch.

6. Take some time for yourself

Everyone needs a day to relax and have to themselves. Having time to yourself away from work and responsibilities can help you figure out what you need to do for yourself to make everything better again.

7. Play with animals

If you don't have a pet find someone that does. Offer to walk the old neighbors dog to feel better. Not only are you doing something good for yourself but you are helping someone else out and that always feels good.

8. Volunteer

Some of the best feelings I have ever had were after I did community service and some volunteering. Seeing someone else smile because you did something good for them is the absolute best feeling in the world.

Remember everyone has their bad days, but dont let it get to you too much. Dont let a bad day ruin the good things for you. Look on the bright side and make best out of the situation at hand. And think about it this way if we never had bad days how would we know if we ever had good ones?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
