The long-awaited time for the class of 2016 is less than a month away! If you are like me, you have been counting down the days until move-in and orientation. The time after high school graduation and before college is quite a weird time. We are all trying to make the transition from kids to functioning adults living away from home, and for many of us it will be our first time living away from our families and homes. With the countdown coming closer to an end we have tons of thoughts about the first year of college.

1. Maybe I should start reading my summer reading book.

Procrastination sure has hit hard this summer. No one wants to sit inside reading a book when you could be outside splashing in the waves at the beach. But beware, summer assignment due-dates are closer than they appear.

2. How do I choose what clothes to bring to school?

When it comes to clothes the hardest decision to make is what to wear in the morning. That's why when you can only bring a select few items to college, it makes the decision even harder! How will you know what you might want to be wearing months from now when the weather is completely different? Even if you could bring your entire closet with you, it will always feel like there is nothing you want to wear.

3. Woah, I never have to go back to high school.

Yes, it is true that high school is behind us all now. Never again will we have to walk the halls of that school or worry about finding a place to sit in the cafeteria. And most importantly, we will not have to see anyone we don't want to from high school.

4. I can not wait until I get to meet all my college friends in person.

If you have been on any social media since announcing your college decision I am sure that multiple people have befriended you online. And finally on move-in day we will all get to meet the friends we have been communicating with online for months, and the meeting will probably go something like this.

5. *silent cries* No food can ever match mom and dad's home-cooked meals.

Although we have all been waiting for the days of freedom from our family, the food in college will definitely not meet the standards we are used to. Home-cooked meals will surely be missed, just as much as family dinners.

6. Perhaps now is a good time to learn how to do my own laundry.

Now that we are almost living on our own it should be time to learn how to do laundry without having our whites turn pink. Laundry is not fun to do but we all have to eventually do it. So now should be a good time for all of us to get with the program.

7. Should I completely change my style?

College is the best opportunity to change your look without anyone knowing what you used to look like. Take Princess Mia's make over in the in the "Princess Diaries" -- talk about a serious #GloUp.

8. Can I just take my pet with me to college?

Of course leaving our friends and family will be hard, but nothing can be worst than saying goodbye to our beloved pets. The ones that have cheered us up with just being their joyful and loyal selves. If only college campuses allowed pets, students would be a lot happier.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
