Some students enter college thinking all they want to do is take their classes and not get involved. Others enter college and decide to join a couple clubs and attend classes. And then there are the students who want to do it all.
Their schedules look like mayhem, with multiple times when they have to be in multiple different places. They have a hard time fitting all their achievements into a one-page resume, and people tend to look at them funny when they're running from one place to the next. Here are eight things you should not say to the person who does it all.
1. You do too much, just quit a few things.
I worked my butt off trying to be the president of three different organizations, take 20 credits, be a resident advisor, have almost a 4.0 GPA, and obtain an internship. If you think for one second I'm just going to up and quit one of those things, you crazy.
2. There's no way you have a social life.
Yes, my life is busy. Yes, some days I don't have time to breathe. But no; having a social life is crucial to my sanity. I try my best to make time for the ones I care about, because without them, I would lose my mind.
3. Why do you even bother doing all these things anyway?
Well, first off, I enjoy every second of what I do. If I didn't, I would not put this much dedication into what I'm involved in. Secondly, I'm trying to be successful. Do you even realize how much all of this is going to help me with my future? And thirdly, I might as well be this involved while I can. Where else can you do all this besides at college?
4. There is no way you're dedicated to everything that you do.
This may seem impossible, but there is no way around it. When you constantly have mandatory meetings, people counting on you, and deadlines to make, for not just one thing you're involved with but every single involvement, you have to be dedicated to it all. This means showing up to everything you need to, being available to the people you work with, and hitting all deadlines that you need to hit.
5. Your time management skills must be on point.
Let's hope this is a rhetorical question. Time management is the only thing that successfully gets me through my day.
6. You must never sleep.
Sleep may be the only reason why I don't snap at people. I treasure my sleep, and without it, I would not be a functioning person, never mind someone who does it all. Yes, I sleep; I make sure that I sleep.
7. You are intimidating.
I'm actually extremely friendly. However, I know what I want, and I go after it. That's how I've come so far with everything that I do. Don't let my strong personality come off as intimidating.
8. You handle your life so well; you seem to have it all together.
As equally flattering and oblivious as this comment is, I definitely do not have my life all together. Even though I like to think so myself, every once in a while, a mental breakdown occurs. Living this do-all lifestyle can be very stress inducing, so these breakdowns are bound to happen.
