8 THINGS RETAIL WORKERS WANT YOU TO KNOW

1) You do not need to camp out

Let's be honest. The world isn't as safe as it once was. Plus, now you have tents that you need to lug with you and take down later. It's all fun and games until someone tries to rob you in front of Best Buy.

2) Fighting is useless

Throwing punches because someone got the last TV on doorbuster? That's a quick way to spend a night in jail and ruin what would normally be a nice long holiday weekend. Set a good example for your kids, please.

3) Your kid can live without it

They do not need the latest and greatest new gaming system that bad. If you get there too late and they run out, it is ok. This goes back to the no fighting thing, just don't do it.

4) Do not argue with us, we just work here

We do not want you to miss out on great deals. As retail workers we understand the value of a good sale. But, when something is out don't argue with us and start a huge yelling match. We really want to get you out quickly and we aren't IT specialists. Sometimes computers go down or get overwhelmed. We are missing out on quality time with our families as it is, some even on Thanksgiving Day and into the night.

5) Read directions please!!

Make sure you are reading the paper properly on the actual deal, as well as signs above the items, and where to check out at. It makes for a much more pleasant experience for all.

6) Know the ad before you come in

Self explanatory. Just know what deals you are getting from what store before you stop in. We don't always have it memorized down to the fine print.

7) Be prepared to wait in lines

It's Black Friday weekend, the busiest shopping season of the year! Everyone and their cousins best friends are out shopping all weekend to get the absolute best deals. Come in your comfiest shoes, we promise to be as quick as we can.

8) BE POLITE!!!!!

I feel like this shouldn't have to be said, but everyone has grown so entitled and rude towards one another that I have to. Be nice to your fellow shoppers, be nice to the workers, be nice to everyone! No one really wants to be out and about in the cold and crowded streets and stores, be considerate.

Happy shopping! Be safe and be kind.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
