Some friends come and go in your life and some are meant to be there for a lifetime. When you have a friend for more than 10 years, things are a little different than short-term friends. Here are eight things I've come to know with a few friends I've had for at least 10 years of my life.

1. Their family is basically your family.

At first you met their family and they seemed nice, you would say hello when you saw them out and about. But after 10 years, you're going to their house to hangout with their family, even when they are not home. When you run into them at the store, expect to be there for 30 minutes minimum talking about old times or what you have going on in your life. These people really care about you as you also care about them. It becomes a family away from yours.

2. You have a signature picture.

You take that one picture every 3 years so you can use it for a transformation Tuesday in another 3 years.

3. There is no judgement in this friendship.

You know no matter how stupid or wrong whatever you did was, this person will still be here to listen to you, help you, call you stupid and tell you to get it together. But you always know you can tell them anything, and you always will want to tell them.

4. When you go on the annual family trip they always come and know everyone.

You're going on a trip and who better to come then this best friend? When you get there, your family is more excited to see them then they are to see you. They chat it up with grandma and know who made what dish at dinner.

5. They always remind you of all the dumb things you have done.

They will never let you live down that time you thought it would look good to cut your bangs off, along with the year you thought having black hair would be fun. Also, the time when you dated that boy who was never good enough for you. Especially if you've ever shot a basketball from the floor in a game... you'll never get to forget that moment.

6. There is that one movie scene you always reenact or quote.

Let's be real, they should have cast you two for the part because you know it by heart. You have movies you could quote all day knowing them from start to finish. Especially 'Stick It', 'She's the Man' and 'Mean Girls' because what friend group didn't love these movies at one point?

7. You know over time you have changed.

Over time you have went your separate ways, moved away from each other and made new friends. But when you meet their new friends, you understand why they picked them. You're sad to see them moving on but happy with what they are accomplishing.

8.You know no matter what you will always be there for each other.

Even if you guys have some ups and downs you know this person is in your life forever. You have gone separate ways at time but you will always find your way back.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
