In a world where new music is constantly coming out, it's nice to sometimes take some time to listen to the song we loved three, five, even ten years ago. A great throwback playlist can be a nice thing to enjoy from time to time no matter the occasion. Here are eight songs that nees to be in your playlist to make it bangin'.
1. "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton
This is easily one of the biggest throwback jams from the early 2000s. Within the first couple of piano notes, you know exactly what you're in for. And let's be honest, who hasn't belted every word to this song at least once in a public place? Absolutely no shame; God knows I've done it more than once.
2. "London Bridge" by Fergie
If you want to get people dancing at a party, this song is a sure bet. An absolute classic from our girl Fergie Ferg, no party is complete without an appearance by this song. The song was a little on the more risque side, no doubt. It's one of those songs our parents would have killed us if they knew we were listening to it. But hey, what they don't know won't kill them right?
3. "Stacy's Mom" by Fountain of Wayne
This was everyone's favorite rock song in the early 2000s and for very good reason. Even if it was Fountain of Wayne's only hit, it was catchy as hell. We couldn't help but feel bad for Stacy in this classic.
4. "Crazy In Love" by Beyonce
Queen Bey's first solo it will always be one of the most iconic throwback jams of the 2000s. The video made everyone wish they could pop it like Bey, let alone dance like her. It was also one of Beyonce and Jay's first songs together. Fast forward to today and they've been married for eight years. Feel old yet?
5. "1, 2 Step" by Ciara feat. Missy Elliot
Growing up, no school dance was complete unless the DJ played this bop. Straight from the opening line, "Ladies and gentlemen," we're transported back to our middle school days. And of course, you weren't cool unless you knew every word and could two-step along.
6. "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani
This song is quite possibly the only reason that I even know how to spell bananas. One of Gwen's best songs, singing this song made you feel like a genuine bad ass. Any throwback playlist lacking this is not truly a throwback playlist.
7. "Come Clean" by Hilary Duff
If there's any song that could instantly transport me back to my childhood, it would have to be this song. One of Hilary's first songs, it successfully began her separation from "Lizzie McGuire" without completely breaking our hearts. You'd be lying if you said you didn't know every word.
8. "Lip Gloss" by Lil Mama
Another middle school dance classic, "Lip Gloss" gave every girl a new sense of confidence because let's be real, nobody's lip gloss was as cool and poppin' like theirs.
