Everyone has one in their friend group: the mom friend. Arguably one of the most important roles in the friend group in order to keep everyone and everything together. Not everyone remembers exactly when they realized they were the mom friend, but every mom friend has dealt with these situations.

1. You always have snacks

The second someone mentions that they're hungry, you have snacks ready to go and won't take no for an answer until they eat.

2. You're always there to listen

If your friends need to vent to someone, they talk to you. You're always there to listen, and people come to you first to complain.

3. You offer the best advice

Additionally, when they come to you to complain about an issue, you're then ready to provide a solution to whatever the issue is. It's not just important to listen, but it's important to help and support your friends.

4. When you go out, you take care of your friends

Someone has to make sure that everyone gets home, and that someone is you. If your friend group goes out, then you're the one to make sure that everyone makes it home safe at the end of the night.

5. You check in with your friends frequently

If they're struggling with something, you are the first one to check in and make sure they're okay. If someone's not where they say they will be, then you're the first one to check in with them.

6. You're the planner

You make plans, you invite everyone and you make sure that people are still able to go the day before.

7. Everyone trusts you

Your friends don't just come to you because you're a good listener, they come to you because you are trustworthy and will protect the secrets that are told to you.

8. You're always there to help

Maybe your friend has an art project that they need help with, or they're trying to get someone to notice them. No matter what it is, you'll drop everything to help your friends when they need it.

9. You are the fixer

In addition to helping, you're always prepared when an emergency strikes. From something as small as a needing pain relieving pills to a heartbreak, you're always prepared to fix a situation as fast as possible.

10. Doing all this makes you happy

There is nothing a mom friend loves more than feeling appreciated or that by helping her friends she has made their lives easier. Even though it's work, being the mom friend is an important role in the friend group.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
