We often take for granted the unrivaled companionship that dogs provide us with. This scruffy species offers a type of friendship that simply cannot be found within the two-legged population. They bestow upon us the entirety of their existences, as long as they get treats. Humans are simply not worthy of the remarkable love and service of dogs and here’s why.

1. We leave them every day.

While we leave the house to go to school or work every day, our dogs are left at home by themselves to hold down the fort. Unless you have hidden cameras in your house or you come home to an array of trash and loose pillow stuffing, you really never know what your dog does all day. Truthfully, your dog probably doesn’t do much other than await your return and enthusiastically greet you when you arrive home.

2. They protect us.

Dogs are known for their protective tendencies — when strangers approach, dogs tend to boldly let us know. They are also very aware of any abnormalities. Many dogs can be trained to sniff out bombs, drugs, or even cancer. They possess skills to help and protect humans in ways that exceed human ability.

3. They love unconditionally.

Dogs are indifferent towards gender, race, age, or appearance. Unlike many humans, your dog never shows prejudice. Your dog doesn’t mind if you don’t wash your hair for a week or if you wear Crocs. Even if you look like you spent the last week on the couch watching Netflix, your dog is still more than willing to walk you around town.

4. They alert us when man-eating squirrels are near.

Dogs never fail to alert us when small animals trespass in the backyard. In the likely event that the neighborhood squirrels are violent and out for blood, your dog will be the first to notify you and dart towards the source of danger. Your dog’s willingness to stand between you and vicious chipmunks is proof of their true love and sacrifice.

5. They take care of table scraps for free.

You may not be aware of this, but your dog is also capable of serving as a garbage disposal. When you simply have no means of disposing of table scraps, your dog will be the first volunteer to remove your burden. They are also not picky regarding what’s on the menu. They might even consume a napkin or two if it gets in the way.

6. Dogs are cuter than you.

Chances are good that your dog’s selfies will get more likes than your own. Dogs are so cute and irresistible that they make us look better in general. Have you ever noticed how strangers approach you in public because you have a dog? Your dog automatically makes you seem more appealing.

7. They dedicate their whole lives to us.

You may have your dog for a short fraction of your life, but your dog’s whole life revolves around you. Your dog accepts the role of being your right hand and your best friend and it remains loyal to you for its entire life. While you may have family, friends, and responsibilities, your dog only has you. You are the center of your dog’s universe.

8. They make the best friends.

Due to all of these characteristics, your dog is one of the best companions that you can possibly have. Your dog loves you unconditionally, eats your food, and lives to make you happy. Truthfully, dogs are so amazing that we, as humans, are simply unworthy of their companionship.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
