It's been said time and time again that dogs are man's best friend, but I'm going to take that one step further and say that dogs are even better friends to us than other humans. They're the most loyal, devoted beings, and although there is a "language barrier" so to speak, the friendships we share with them are some of the most special and important relationships in our lives. Here are nine reasons dogs are the best friends you'll ever have:
1. They never get sick of spending time with you.
Unlike when you spend a little too much time with one of your friends and everything they do starts to annoy you, you could spend every hour of every day with your pup and love every second of it.
2. They're the best cuddle buddies.
Nothing compares to lounging on the couch in front of the TV or laying in bed watching Netflix all snuggled up with your warm furry friend. You just can't cuddle like that with your other friends (well, you can but it would be pretty weird).
3. You can never stay mad at them for long.
While you can be angry with a friend for weeks or even years, you just can't help but forgive your dog. Even if he/she takes a bite off your dinner plate when you're not looking or uses your favorite pair of shoes as a chew toy, as soon as the puppy eyes get turned on you, it's impossible to be mad.
4. They're the best judge of character.
Sorry, but if my dog doesn't like you, I can't like you either. You know what they say about people who don't like dogs...
5. They comfort you when you're having a bad day.
Dogs have an inherent ability to sense your emotions. Rough day at work? Stressed about school? Relationship trouble? You don't have to say a word -- your dog knows and will be there to cuddle your troubles away.
6. They're always happy to see you.
You will never see anyone more excited to see you than your dog when you walk in the door. Even if you've only been gone 15 minutes, they're always so happy to see you come back.
7. They're always ready to go on an adventure with you.
Whether it's a fun new hiking trail, a casual stroll around the park, or just a joyride, your pup is your go-to partner and is always eager to join you.
8. They never judge you.
Dogs love you unconditionally. Even when you don't wash your hair for a week, or eat an entire pizza by yourself, or spend (another) weekend in bed watching Netflix instead of going out, they'll be by your side, never judging.
9. You're the most important thing in their lives.
A dog's life begins and ends with you. You are all they know, and they love you more than anything else.
