In the age of social media, most people around my age have several online accounts. There are aspects that I like and dislike about each social media platform, but one stands out above the rest for me. I absolutely love Twitter, and here’s why:
1. Concision
If you’re like me, you don’t like beating around the bush. I like when writing gets straight to the point. That’s what Twitter’s 140 character limit helps to do. When tweeting, the user is forced to keep their point short and sweet, which makes for a lot of creativity in my opinion.
2. Twitter Fights
That character limit might seem like a disadvantage when people get into spats online, but I think the entertainment level is heightened as a result. Grab some popcorn, and watch people get burned in 140 characters or less.
3. Coexistence with celebrities
Everyone who’s anyone is on Twitter. And if there’s anything that President Trump and I have in common, it’s that we both love to tweet. Twitter has found a way to put celebrities, companies, and everyday people on the same level, resulting in some great interactions.
4. Variety
Along with celebrity feeds, you get sports, music, news, and whatever other accounts you follow. And what you see on your Twitter feed is all up to you.
5. News
If you’re on Twitter, you’re going to get the news fast. Not to mention you can get live updates of sporting events with a variety of commentary.
6. Memes and gifs
Depending on who you follow, Twitter can be full of hilarious elements. Gifs never fail to make me laugh, and memes can circulate for weeks and still be funny.
7. Hashtags
Twitter pioneered the hashtag, and now we see it all over other forms of social media. They can connect you to other people who are tweeting about the same topic, and they can also be very creative.
8. Pure Wit
When you have a character limit, you have to pull out all of the stops. Tweets are carefully crafted masterpieces, and the wittiest of people excel on Twitter.
