Freshman year of college is everyone's chance to create a fresh start for themselves and learn to feel comfortable with who they are. While much can happen in even that first semester of college, it's important not to forget to thank the people who became such a major part of this life changing experience. Who is more important to thank for impacting your freshman year of college than your roommates?

1. Your room is a judgement free zone.

It is only your first year of college, and you are still adjusting to living with other people. Your room should be a place that is judgement free. Even if you are having a bad hair day and want to hide from everyone, keep in mind that your roommates will probably see you at your worst. That is OK.

2. They are trustworthy.

Roommates don't just have to the people that you live with while being away from home. They might even be the first people you meet at your new college, so let them be people that you can confide in.

3. They've witnessed your most stressful days.

Whether it's panicking over a test or dying during finals week, your roommates have witnessed the tears or heard the complaints. If they are not stressed at the same time as you, they have definitely experienced it before. They understand, and they will try to help and support you as much as possible.

4. They've witnessed your wildest moments too.

College not all stress all the time. It is also a time to go out and experience sports games and parties with friends. While this can be fun, there are also crazy stories that come out of each outing, whether it be meeting a new person or talking about an embarrassing moment. Even if your roommates weren't there to witness it, you look forward to getting back to your room to tell them all about it!

4. Friendship reaches new heights with roommates.

Although you only just met them, it is like you have known them your whole life. During second semester, it is hard to imagine that you and your roommates only met last September.

5. They've seen your eating habits.

Everyone has that late night in college where they just have the strongest desire to order food. At some point, your roommates have seen how much you eat, and they understand. They will not judge if you decide to eat a whole container of guacamole by yourself. They might even join you! So, go ahead and order that pizza or Chinese food and enjoy.

6. Spending time apart seems unnatural.

If one of your roommates goes home for the weekend, you wonder when they are going to get back. Sleeping in your room at home no longer feels the same during winter and spring breaks because you are away from the people that you are so used to living in the same room with.

7. They are honest with you.

Who knows you better at your new college than your roommates? After all, they are the ones that you can trust with your secrets, so they are not afraid to give you their honest opinions if you ask for them.

8. You have made friends for life.

Even if you are not living in the same room together for the rest of your college years, they will always be your first roommates. Thank them for helping you get through your first year of freedom as an adult! These people will be your friends for the rest of your life. No matter how far you live from each other in years to come, you will always remember and appreciate the impact that they had on your life.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
