Everyone knows that the library is where college students spend long stressful nights when midterms and finals roll around. Sometimes we go to the library just to get work done in a quitter, academic environment, but why stop at the library? Why not take our studies to new on-campus locations? Why stay in the same boring building that is full of anxiety and stress?
In my opinion, I think it is a great idea to go out and explore new places especially if it’s to find a new study location. A lot of people think studying at the beach is a great alternative but for those without cars, there are a lot of on campus locations that are great for studying.
Hepner Quad: This location is one my favorites especially when the sun is starting to set. The boxed in area in Hepner Quad brings fresh air, a nice view, and peace. It’ crazy to think that this small quad is what San Diego State University was composed of when the university first moved to its current location.
Aztec Sun Dial: What better place to study than in front of the most photographed and most iconic building at SDSU? In case you have no idea which building this is or don’t know where the Aztec Sun Dial is located, it’s the front part of Hepner Hall.
Aztec Green: This lawn in front of the Trolley Station remains one of the most popular places to go relax and read a book. With Starbucks and Chipotle just a few steps away, its no wonder why people enjoy this location.
Mediterranean Garden: If you’re looking for a seat at a garden with a nice sound of a fountain, this is your place to go. This is home to the college of sciences and it remains as one of my top study locations on campus. It’s always nice and quiet and the sun feels great!
Arts and Letters: I know this building may seem as the home to one of SDSU’s larger lecture halls but it’s also the home to one of the greatest views. Get your books, go up to the 6th floor, and enjoy a scenic view while preparing for a midterm exam.
Storm Hall: This newly renovated building is one of the more popular places for studious students. With a large courtyard with seating and tables for homework and studying, storm hall brings students from all majors. A view of the mountains and of the freeway makes it a fun and relaxing place to study.
Scripps Cottage/Lawn: We all know that this is the home to the koi fish and turtles but it’s also a great place to take a blanket and study while relaxing. This location is even great for taking naps and even sun bathing.
Aztec Student Union: The union happens to be the “living room” of San Diego State Universities. Just like any other living room, students of all ages enjoy studying in them. What makes our living room better? Starbucks, Chipotle, The Habbit, Oggi’s, and the Aztec Market. We can enjoy a good book under some sun in the Lee and Frank Goldberg Courtyard and still be steps away from coffee, pizza, burgers, burritos, and protein shakes!Â
