There's no doubt that NYC and N.J. are home to some of the best food around the country. No one can compete with us, no one can duplicate us, nothing will ever be comparable. To show you all what you're missing, here are eight NYC and N.J. foods the rest of the country misses out on.
1. NYC and N.J. pizza.
Our pizza is undeniably better than any pizza you've every tasted in your entire life. Many restaurants across the country try and duplicate our delicacy, but we can taste the difference in just one bite. Our crunchy thin crust and our hearty tomato sauces will outshine anything the rest of the country has. You truly haven't lived until you've eaten our pizzas.
2. Bagels.
Yes, the rest of the country has bagels, but our bagels are no ordinary bagels. Some say it's the water that make our bagels so delicious, but they are handmade every morning and make for one hell of a tasty breakfast.
3. Bacon, egg and cheeses.
This is the holy grail of breakfast sandwiches. One bite of these bad boys and you will go into a food coma. You truly haven't lived if you haven't put one of these savory sandwiches in your mouth.
4. Boardwalk zeppoles.
Yes, every city has fried dough, but you haven't had a taste of our boardwalk zeppoles before. Drenched in enough powdered sugar to give someone five cavities in one bite, these heavenly treats are a summer steal everyone looks forward to. If you can find the places that will do it, there are some spots that will put chocolate in the middle of the dough.
5. Italian food.
Regardless of where you're from in Italy, there is nothing in this world, (and I mean nothing in this world), that is better than homemade New York and New Jersey Italian dishes. We give spaghetti, meatballs, and chicken parm a whole new meaning.
6. Diner foods.
Here in New Jersey and New York, we take our diners very, very seriously. The best thing is, is that most of them are open 24/7. They'll always be there to serve you a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes at 2 a.m. and a hot pressed panini, cole slaw and pickles at 4 p.m.
7. Chinese food.
We are hands down home to some of the best Chinese food in the country. Our restaurants may look like a little hole-in-the-wall establishment, but some of our best Chinese food comes from inside those places.
8. Lox.
Lox just deserves its own separate planet because it's literally out of this world. It can be eaten plain (that's my go-to method), on bagels, or even mixed in with cream cheese (yes, there is such a thing as lox cream cheese).
9. Jewish deli foods.
Roast beef, pastrami, corn beef, turkey on rye, and a Reuben sandwich. Need I say more?
I think it's safe to say that no matter where you go in New Jersey or New York, you'll always find something good to eat.
